A New Thread For Coffee.
As in, this is the new thread, for discussing coffee, properties of, coffee.
I was given a coffee maker over the holidays by a really nice person. Well actually it was a gift card that I took down to the local department store and used to buy a coffee maker. I haven't had a coffee maker for quite some time now! And so I went to Ralphs and bought some nice fresh ground coffee. I am making some right now, and it really tastes good! I am used to instant coffee--good type of instant coffee, but nothing beats the real thing. The coffee I am making now is called "Breakfast Blend," which is sort of vague; it could mean anything, it could have anything in it. But whatever it is, it is aromatic and tasty. What kind of coffee are you having? |

I am drinking French Vanilla Whole Bean by Folgers-not my fav coffee company but I just can't afford $8 bags of beans *shakes fist at greedy colombians* Do you have a grinder? Cause then you could buy beans and have fresh yummy coffee pot coffee:) |
French Vanilla Whole Bean---omigod, omigod! That sounds good too.
I do have a grinder, but I have been grinding my beans at the store, because my grinder is sort of uneven--it grinds some of the coffee too fine and some too coarse, so it brews sort of weird. They have one of those industrial-type grinders at Ralphs and it seems to do better than the one I have, nice even grind. Yummmmmmmm |
My favorite coffee is now Community Coffee Medium Roast (thanks to my cousin in Florida). I have to buy it online because they don't sell it up here in the North. My second favorite is Community Coffee Between Roast-yummy!
For after dinner my favorite is Folger's Chocolate Silk coffee with Coffeemate Peppermint Mocha liquid creamer. Good stuff! |
I love Southern Butter Pecan.
Although I really don't use creamer much, and only buy if family is in town. That peppermint sounds so good! I usually drink my coffee black, what about you Filmm? |

I have to try it.
I was thinking, how do they make a flavored bean? I mean I understand the coffee bean growing process and how they make different strengths of bean-but how do they make flavor? Do they add it after ,in the roaster or what? |
coffee purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr before going to work.
Mostly black, sometimes with creamer and sometimes with creamer and Equal (TM). Lately I have been adding ginger to the coffee, gives it a gingerbread kind of flavor. 2 Ginger Altoids (TM) dissolved in a cup will do it, or you can add ground ginger to the coffee when you brew. |

Now that I have you thinking about the chocolate/peppermint mix - they only have the creamer in the stores at holiday time! Sorry! |
my regular tasty expresso choice is
http://img460.imageshack.us/img460/2...zabeans1xb.jpg and If I'm feeling like a mug of coffee to savour, I'm partial to some of the coffees in the link http://www.cafedirect.co.uk/products/index.php |
I've never been a fan of espresso. Too bitter for my taste.
|
I haven't done so in a while, but when I buy "real" coffee, I usually buy it fine ground for my espresso machine from Gloria Jeans, I have a regular blend
*Italian espresso *French vanilla *Chocolate Mudslide *Vanilla creme de caramel I also grind nutmeg and cinnamon myself, and add that. |
I like Bishop's Blend (with no milk, sugar and VERY VERY STRONG) - I like BB because its Fair Trade, Organic and teh profits go to 3rd world relief and development - so I feel good about myself as I drink it! - it soothes my bleeding liberal heart!!
|
Ah, I am remembering, way back in 1991 I used to be all crazy about flavored coffees, there was a store up the street from me that had a million different kinds, and I would go in there and get the weirdest stuff just to try it. There was a Pina Colada (too weird) and a Chocolate Mint (good weird) and Raspberry (decent) but by far my favorite was Hazelnut and there was one called Banana Nut that also was pretty cool.
Then I got tired of all the flavors and now I only like Hazelnut because it is an awesome flavor. |
oh i had a cup of butterscotch flavoured coffee
from java cafe in town.. was nice but a little too sweet. Lately em getting addicted to the coffee on the run thingy from the petrol stations. But no matter what happens..i always revert back to my very own teaspoon of coffee sugar.. a little water to make a paste.. and untill u can smell the flavour slowly pour in the hot water. not to full though.. shake the milk untill it becomes frothy add..and enjoy.. Coffee Sucks. I hate the stuff. I have yet to find a kind that I like. It tastes like urine.

Fair Trade coffee all the way. You get great coffee, and you give back to the rainforests and coffee growers around the world.
Not to pricey either. I suggest: www.roasting.com Fair Trade coffee out of Salt Lake. Fabulous and no Mormon influence! |

i suspect you are yanking my chain - but in case anyone wants to order good (in terms of flavor, politics and spirituality) - go to: http://www.puravidacoffee.com/store/.../store_erd.asp |

You just need to get some good stuff. I started drinking it when I was about 12 or so, but then I'd mostly get the stuff that was more artifical flavor...the coffee didn't show thru that much, haha. I guess you learn to love it more as you get older. Got a Gloria Jeans around? If so go and get yourself and White Chocolate Mocha, they're so gewd. Coffee is some of the best shit in the world...Me personally, If I was being "asked out", I'd rather be asked out for coffee than a beer anyday (although beer is good too) Gonna have me a double mocha before bed. Some more of that instant stuff I keep laying around...but hey, it ain't bad. |

I don't make coffee at home because I'm the only one at home that drinks it, I usually get mine from Sheetz or McDonalds.
I like to add French Vanilla, Irish Cream, or Amaretto creamers to mine with a touch Splenda.:) |
Splenda??
Lucy, you got some splending to do! |

Splenda isn't technically artificial, considering it's a derivative of sugar.
Another substitute for sugar would be stevia. It's a plant that's sweet by it's own nature. It's not related to the sugar cane at all. However, you have to be really careful with it. it's powerful. Marroe, I agree with just about everything you just said.:) Spoken like a true coffee-lover, and I also started drinking java at a young age. I really really recommend that you get yourself a pound of fair trade coffee. I really think you'd like it. Very rich and very full bodied.:) |

Awwww - ain't I sweet! :D |
I am sending you a huge kiss.:D
I've never considered myself to be sweet, but thank you, Zero. You are amazingly precious.;) |
I think all this coffee is making people kinda hoochie poochie!
;) |

Hoochie poochie...you never heard that? Oh, I guess you haven't, because I just made it up. It means, uh, hot to trot...frisky...randy...kind of anxious to, you know, do it. With a lady. You know.
Didn't they do a study that proved that coffee makes people kinda turned on? I think that's why, when I step into a coffee house, there's a definite vibe in the air...have you ever noticed that or am I just imagining things? |
Which is most preferable:
A puppy, a flower for your sweetie, or a LARGE, PROPERLY FORMATTED DATA FILE? |
I have noticed that in a coffee house.
Also-I think I and most people would prefer the formatting:D |
(thanks to haunted for calling me precious - a word never before associated with me?!?!)
speaking of coffee shops. . . i go down to my local coffee shop - one of those indepedent one's (i.e., not starbucks) - and order a "tall house". . . now, ok, i understand that "tall" and "grande" and "venti" are made-up Starbucks words, but hey, they've entered the popular vocabulary. . . anyway, the owner lady says to me "I don't know what a 'tall' is - we only have small, medium or large" So i told her to kiss my poo-nuts* (ok, in actuality I just turned around angrily and didn't leave a tip - but i was thinking "kiss my poo-nuts") |
