Meeting online people
 

Hypothetically speaking, what would you do if you were meeting someone who posts on the forum? Who would you want to meet and why? What kind of activities would you want planned?

This is mostly about what you would do with by most people's definition a stranger for fun. Keeping in mind the possible dangers but don't just say "Oh, I would never do that" because that doesn't really matter. :)

a bottle of chianti
a cattle prod
a bottle of KY jelly
two pieces of rye toast
212 post-its
a large cardboard box
an exacto knife with 2 blades
a pencil sharpener
and a Tickle-Me Elmo doll

I met my last girlfriend on Myspace. And we went to the movies and she came to my house the next day. Then a month later she dumped me, lol. So yeah, I'd meet people from here with no problem. It's no different than meeting her from myspace.

This is something that I would never do, though I do think it would be fun.

If by some random change of heart I did decide to meet up with someone here, Id love to sit back and watch a horror flick or two with certain members around here. Alky, Ravage and YJ coming to mind right off.

people i would want to meet are bloodrayne and her whole family, return and massacre man... also meeting gorephbia to talk about indie movies would be pretty cool

I met someone from online once and it was a total disaster. well, not total. I didn't get my eyes gouged out or anything, but it was definitely lame.

however, if I were to repeat this behavior, I guess I would do the same things I do with my friends when they visit from out of town.

-take em to my favorite bars
-maybe go to a show if anyone decent is playing
-eat out at some "local flavor" type joints. namely seafood
-take em to a Mardi Gras parade if it's in season

etc. basically, I'd try and do stuff that they couldn't do where they live.

cool with me we would do all that shit but other then that i would just chill with people and talk about random shit like life, media, and other shit

I've met LOTS of people from the internet...nobody from this site though. But everyone I meet, I met them from the internet, cause I'm a loner and I have no other way of talking to people and I have social anxiety so I can't just go up to a complete stranger and talk to them unless I know for sure that they want me to talk to them. But when I meet people from the internet, I usually invite them to my house(if they live nearby), or I've met them at a mall or somewhere like that. Met one guy at a hospital nearby, where he works, once.

Guy my family originaly met on WoW came down from NY and viseted for a few weeks. I met him, really nice guy. He came by bus and had to wait at the bus station in Detroit for a few which he didn't love but hey he didn't get stabbed or anything. Anybody who visted from the forums would have to go with me (as he did) to Screamers, it's this ice cream place in this small town I live near named Hell and it's like a scary ice cream place, pretty neat. Other than that drink a lot, watch a lot of movies, and go out to a few cool places.

I dunno...I'd be a little apprehensive with most of you folks...
"say this, say that", lookin' to like make the aussie guy say stuff, and more stuff, and make me feel like a performing uh, croc hunter...then I'd get stuck with the catering..:rolleyes: I just know it.
Ok, so there's a few people I'd hang out with, I think urg and I would get along pretty well, newbudman, the dissapeared vodstock, filmmaker..., I guess those are the guys that seem more around my generally preferred age group, not like I'm quite as ancient as some of those fellas, but yeah, I've always been one to hang with an older crowd. Actually, despite a little bullshit here and there, I wouldn't mind sinking a few with elvis, and maybe Sam even, after a few years. :p
Of course there's the younger crew, return, f13, shit, just about alla you little fuckers would probably be cool to hang with and like...I dunno, give you some life advice or some shit...I'm sure it'd be a laugh, and hey, if all else failed, there's always vandalism, right?
For the girls...hm...I wouldn't mind hangin' out with that spal chick sometime, stubborn seems like a pretty funny girl, of course there's marroe who's been my bud longer than most peeps up in here, got a shitload in common AND she drinks tequila. Oh, and not that she's here much anymore, but ~michele~'s a pretty nice gal too.

Activities? hmm...I dunno, I suppose if there were any movies that we both/all wanted to see at the time, we could hit that, I throw a pretty mean bbq, and I LOVE tequila, so I'm sure that could get incorporated into some kinda activity. Sit around some, just like a long talk...fishing, hangin' out exploring the city, hitting up record stores, I dunno, maybe hit a few of my favourite places to eat, the chinatown night markets here are great too.

well, i'm still getting to know you guys but i've met 3 people from another site i've been a member of since 2003 and i met Soloman on there too over a year ago. I'm going to see him on the 10th it's my 5th visit.
Danger? sure it's wise to be cautious but i don't THINK he's dangerous:D

actually, as opposed to my opinion in my earlier post, I guess I would probably hang out with just about any of you. especially if you are of legal age of imbibement and we could go to the local waterin hole and get all sideways. that's when you know someone real good... after you puke on em.

but I think out of the people on here the only one I can name specifically would be Elvis Christ. I can't really say why other than that he has good taste in music and we're "myspace friends."

I'm traveling to England next month (38 days!) to meet someone I met on another website . I'm so excited - a lifelong dream coming true of visiting England. And........if we can work it out I'll be meeting ShankS! BTW, ShankS, you need to email me!

I would love to hang out with most people on here and watch horror movies and just hang out and talk and laugh. If I went to Rayne's I'd just want to hold and cuddle Ash (I love babies); if I went to urgeok's (who I might be meeting in September) we'd hang out and watch horror movies and watch dinosaur stuff with his son; if I went to cheeba's I'd ask for cooking tips (see, I didn't ask you to cater); if I went to Haunted's I'd have her show me stuff about Wicca; everybody else - it's movie time!

I would love to meet all of you, with a very few exceptions. I would really love to meet IA75, Nova, MM, Haunted,Newb,ect. It would be awesome to get drunk and hang with ya guys, maybe someday... :cool:

personally i think all you people should be wanting to hang out with me - i'm charming, witty, articulate, handsome and generous. . . hell, i can barely go out without a whole entourage of folks piling up around me so tightly i can barely breath . . . the only reason i come on-line is to avoid the crowds of hangers-on who just want to be near me

on a more (or less) serious note: why not an HDC reunion/convention - it would be fairly easy. Pick one of the existing horror cons - maybe somewhere central (hmm, at least central in the US - like Chicago) - designated it for the HDC crew and everyone who can catch a plane, train, automobile or thumb-a-ride can show up. I'd rent a suite and we could all come and stare at each other (hell, i'd even spring for a couple of cases of beer)

There's a horror festival in Toronto in September (Labor Day weekend).

I wanted to, i just couldnt think of everyone. It's hard to say i want to meet everyone, there are lots of assholes on here!! I really want to meet you both!!! ;)

That's why I didn't name specific people I want to meet - just people I'd want to do something other than watch a movie with. I can't rely on my memory anymore and I knew I'd leave someone out and there'd be hurt feelings............

I'm going to try like hell to get to the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear in September. That's where I'll meet urgeok. Plus it sounds like fun.
