Sam the Egg getting his wings clipped

I don't like kids, nor do I want to raise kids. So I'm getting a vasectomy. I've found a doctor that performs non-scalpel vasectomies that's 3 minutes from my house, I'm getting a consultation, and hopefully sometime this year (I have to save up and have no steady income) I'll get the vasectomy. Yay for me.

MisterSadistro 05-21-2006 07:20 PM

ouch. Not your wings getting clipped I'm afraid. Good luck with that.
CK

Miss Olivia 05-21-2006 08:38 PM

That's cool if it's what you want...and the thing about a vasectomy is if you ever change your mind it's reversible, whereas a hysterectomy is not...of course if you don't like kids now it's doubtful you ever will but you never know what could change for you in ten or twenty years....maybe you'll turn eighty and meet a twenty year old stripper who wants children...:D

Don't even wanna wait, see if your opinion changes with age?

I'm secure enough in the decision to risk having to pay for the reversal

bloodrayne 05-22-2006 12:19 AM

During that Consultation, they'll ask you to give good reasons why you don't want any kids...Especially as young as you are...They'll probably try to change your mind...

Of course, I'm sure it's different in different states...

In Kentucky, it's difficult to find someone who will perform the *surgery if you don't have at least one kid...

In Ohio, it's difficult to find someone to do it if you don't already have TWO kids...

Unless you're over 30

*It only takes 10 minutes, and a shot to numb the area, WITH a scalpel...actually, it's more like a crochet needle and a pair of scissors...They almost always do it on a Friday here, so you can heal over the weekend and don't miss any work...It's unbelievably simple

Anyway...Good luck :)

The question is, if he doesn't give reason that they deem acceptable will they still do it or is that just a process they go through?

anyway..Good luck with everything.

I've been wondering about that. See, I was just like STE at his age. I wanted to get it done, but people kept telling me no one would do it because I was too young and would change my mind. Well, I'll be 28 in a few months. I still haven't changed my mind, I think it might be safe to say I won't. Good luck, Sam.

It's up to the doctor to decide...They have to protect themselves...Some people have actually come back later and said, "The doctor should have known I was too young to make that kind of decision"...or..."The doctor should have known I might change my mind...or wasn't really sure"...Stuff like that...

I don't know if there are any specific guidelines that doctors follow in order to determine whether someone is sure or not....But...I DO know that if you say things like "I think....."I'm pretty sure..."...."maybe...".....or ANYTHING that shows the slightest hint of uncertainty...They will deny you...

SKOOFx 05-22-2006 06:04 AM

WTF

SKOOFx 05-22-2006 07:08 AM

its that simple.

PR3SSUR3 05-22-2006 07:08 AM

Possible Complications:-

A vasectomy is considered a low-risk surgery, but there are risks associated with any surgery. Possible complications include:

The area may become inflamed or infected. Antibiotics or, very rarely, minor surgery may be required to treat an infection.

A blood clot or bruise may appear, but normally clears up by itself.
The skin may bind to the vas, which may require surgical correction.

Fluid or sperm may build up in the scrotum, but usually clears up on its own.

In 4 out of 1,000 cases, a decreased sexual desire or inability occurs. Such problems are believed to be emotional, because the operation can’t cause them.

The cut ends of the vas could grow back together.

It's Your Choice…

Yeah...but...That depends on how it's done....The ends can be tied back or burned...OUR doctor removes a full inch of tubing (so that they can't reach each other to grow back)...Then he burns the ends...THEN he ties them back, just to make sure...He considers HIS method to be irreversible...

PR3SSUR3 05-22-2006 08:19 AM

It's like spaying, or rather neutering yourself.

Come on all you vasectomised board members - do you feel any less of a fully functional man, or not?

newb 05-22-2006 08:21 AM

Fuck that....ain't nobody getting near that area with a knife.

On the other hand...the world can feel safer knowing there won't be any little "sam the eggs" running around.;)

PR3SSUR3 05-22-2006 08:36 AM

This guy sounds good:-

its that simple.

the odds of condoms or the pill failing are greater than the odds of a vasectomy failing

Or you could get your girl to get a birth control shot every 3 months. My ex did this so I wouldn't get her pregnant. It even did away with her period.

ItsAlive75 05-22-2006 09:52 AM

Well I'll back the decision, cuz in the end you're gonna do whatever ya want anyway. But just think about how much fun it would be to raise a child to be like you. Oooooh, it just makes the hair on your arm stand up.:D

PR3SSUR3 05-22-2006 10:51 AM

I only hope something like this doesn't somehow happen:-

Note: none of these unfortunate conditions were as a result of having the snip, especially not the very last one which was as a result of rubber band abuse

WTF, how did THAT go wrong????

monalisa 05-22-2006 05:26 PM

OK, you do know that it's not fool proof right? I know someone (ex-coworker, still friend) that had that done and still got his wife pregnant. No doubt there was the whole horrible "you cheated on me " thing, but after DNA tests it was his (and I don't want to sound mean, but if you ever saw her, well you'd know it was his).Just be careful and sure in your desicion and afterwards don't think its just free for all. Take care.

ItsAlive75 05-22-2006 05:36 PM

Nothing's fool proof. Babies can get into Tylenol bottles and retards can still open bottles under the sink. Quit tryin' to scare him.

PR3SSUR3 05-22-2006 05:53 PM

I actually think this is a very good idea - unselfish, and just generally damn sensible (what, under the circumstances and all).

In fact I think I'm going to get one.

We should all get one.

It's not a hysterectomy that women get done, those are two different things. I'm getting a tubal and i have read that it is much easier for a man to do this than what i'm doing. I think if a person really does not want/like kids they should do it. I think it is better than having a kid that you DO NOT want.

http://www.vasectomymedical.com
A successful vasectomy is confirmed by doing semen checks (see confirming sterility); after which, there remains a small risk of failure. To elucidate this risk, if 3000 couples were sexually active and did so unprotected for 10 years, one pregnancy would result in the entire group over that 10 year period.
Fool proof? No. But the odds aren't in favor of failure
