The Blair Witch Project

I think "The Blair Witch Project" is one of the best indie horror movies ever made. Very creepy! You don't need gore/body count to make a truely scary movie. The ending was just.........Wow.

Posher778 07-10-2006 04:54 PM

Ack, again with the remake threads. *arrgh*

Oh but wait, she put me on ignore for saying "wow..." in her Saw 3 thread... awwwwwww hah!

The_Return 07-10-2006 06:32 PM

There's a bunch of other threads, but I cant be bothered to bring them up for you.

Agreed, this is a phenominal movie. One of my all-time favourites.

spookychild 07-13-2006 04:20 AM

Not a bad movie but not a good one either
sorry I guess I'm not a fan of the purposely poor movies out there. If its badly made because you don't know any better that's a whole nother matter.

that is not the whole point

You're saying the film was made purposefully bad, but you're missing that it was made to represent the raw video footage from a crew of young amateurs.

In this sense, the achievement is to emulate how this rough film might appear and sound.

It succeeds magnificently. Following the usual cinematic codes to produce endless clones of bogeymen and vampire movies is textbook and uninteresting - getting the right blend of cinema verite but managing to sustain audience interest though subtle visual and aural manipulation is very difficult indeed.

Miss Olivia 07-27-2006 12:27 PM

It scared the hell out of me.
It also made me a little queasy.
All the jumping and shaking.

DeadMoon 07-27-2006 06:47 PM

Indeed i thought it was outstanding. A lot of people hate the ending. Myself, I think it was perhaps one of the greatest endings in a movie that I've seen in a long time.

Not to mention the marketing. If there was an Oscar award for marketing, these guys would have made a killing. Oh wait, they did make a killing. Box Office glory.

PR3SSUR3 07-28-2006 03:33 AM

I concur.

voorhees92 08-20-2006 07:58 PM

i find it only scary if you watch it once. then it's all just gone, given that the directors even exposed it and admitted it isn't real due to the bizarre sequel.

Lala_Sound 08-21-2006 03:13 AM

I quite liked the ending. It freaked me out when the kids started shaking the tent.
Did they ever actually find the actors?

The actors are alive and well.

Too bad the same can't be said for their careers

Here to please.

Burning in Hell 08-24-2006 11:58 AM

To me, the Blair Witch project was an ok movie with a nice dose of originality and a good ending, but nothing more. I think that this is a vastly overrated movie, but to each his own I guess...

Suspiria 666 08-24-2006 01:09 PM

Excellent movie. Very well made

How do you know if you're on an ignore list?

superman 09-02-2006 07:09 PM

i agree an awesome movie with one of the best endings ever....the second one was ok but the first was fantastic.

VampiricClown 09-03-2006 06:12 AM

I just rented this today to see what all the hallabaloo is about.

superman 09-03-2006 08:18 AM

funny - i've never met anyone who found anything redeemable about the sequel. . . i thought it was total crap. . .

Ungrateful Pig 09-09-2006 10:07 AM

Here's the big question:

'The Blair Witch Project' or 'The Last Broadcast'?

punk666 09-09-2006 10:28 AM

The Blair Witch Project coz i've not seen The Last Broadcast, whats it about?

Ungrateful Pig 09-09-2006 10:31 AM

It has a similar premise, but was made a year earlier.

I can't remember it in detail but it's about a group of film makers investigating an urban legend.

It's more of an actual 'mockumentary' than Blair Witch; featuring set pieces and interviews etc.

The ending, however, is pretty bad. I won't spoil it, but it could ruin the film for you.

punk666 09-09-2006 10:31 AM

i looked it up is this it?

it looks good im gonna have 2 check this 1 out :D

Ungrateful Pig 09-09-2006 10:41 AM

Yes, that's the one.

Roderick Usher 09-11-2006 11:18 AM

the Last Broadcast is entertaining, but lacks the visceral punch that Blair Witch had.

But I'm always happy to see something about the Jersey Devil...or los Chupacabras...or Nessie...or any of the silly little cryptids

roddie is a cryptozoological kind of guy - - - i often listen to teh Art Bell Show late at night (its usually on here between midnight and 5am) and its almost always about paranormal stuff. . . 9 times out of 10 its silly nonsense with some nutjob selling some self-published book, but sometimes its pretty interesting and occcassionally a bit creepy!

Verve 09-18-2006 02:49 PM

Very good movie.. It wasnt that horribly scary, but it was pretty damn creppy.

paws the great 09-18-2006 03:31 PM

Artisan had a clever publicity campaign for this low budget film.
That is the only good thing about The Blair witch Project.
The movie is bad.

psycho_butthead 09-20-2006 04:41 PM

I thought the movie was okay. The sequel sucked ass thank god they didn't make a third installment.

scottnicholson 09-24-2006 06:35 AM

hated it

This was boring. Getting lost in the woods is not scary to me, it's my idea of rest and relaxation. All hype, no meat.

alkytrio666 09-24-2006 08:00 AM

The Blair Witch Project is a masterpiece. It is an ingenious piece of filmmaking. America feel for it, it was succesful, and even now, when we all know it's bullshit, it's still very original and creepy.
