Smokin' Aces opening Friday--go see my work!

The film "Smokin' Aces" is opening Friday and it features some special effects stuff I did involving pull-off masks like Mission: Impossible. Go see it and help give it a big opening weekend! You can also see my imdb page here:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0559475/

Despare 01-22-2007 07:33 PM

I've been planning on seeing Smokin' Aces, how was it? (other than your effects which I already assume are stunning ;) )

crabapple 01-22-2007 07:35 PM

Thanks for the compliment! I haven't seen the movie...kinda curious myself.

GetrDone 01-22-2007 07:41 PM

Wow quite an impressive resume. I Loved the movie Freaked. I'm gonna buy a copy of it whenever I can find one. guess I'll have to hit up ebay.

bwind22 01-22-2007 09:02 PM

Impressive resume indeed! Freaked is probably one the all time most under-rated movies I've ever seen! Absolutely hilarious!

Re: Smokin' Aces, I don't know if I'll see it immediately because I'm kinda broke at the moment but it looks awesome & I had interest in it before I knew you weer even involved. Goodl uck on it!

Roderick Usher 01-22-2007 09:45 PM

Fuckin' Brilliant! I've been really looking forward to this one. I will absolutely be in the theater for this.

Right on!

I hadnt acctually heard much about this film but it was all that was on at the time we went to the cinema. Really really really liked it will buy it when it comes out. Good plot and some kick ass bloody scenes. Special effects rocked. Big thumbs up.

stubbornforgey 01-23-2007 03:46 AM

Freakin A..
so so proud to be one of your friends :p

Zero 01-23-2007 04:30 AM

to be honest i would NOT have gone to see this - the preview looks like dreck-on-a-stick (sort of Domino redux - ugghhh) - but if my friend crabby is involved, i'm there!!!

Vodstok 01-23-2007 05:29 AM

I can make no promises about being able to see it in a theater, but it looked like fun to me.

Alligator 2?! You rock :D

Something wonderful happened to me while watching that once, but i will not get into it here :)

Crabby, I went to your website. Would you like a hand with it? I am looking to get a body of work together that i can actually use as a portfolio (most web work i have done has been internal websites for biog comapnies, not exactly the kind of thing i can show off)

Like most web designers, i am looking to start a business where i wil lbe charging an assload of money, but right now i will work for cred :D

Reply here or PM me if you are interested.

The_Return 01-23-2007 05:46 AM

Wow man...you're pretty well represented on the new Top 100 - you've got 2 films on there! Sweet!

And I'll definatly be checking out Smokin' Aces...thought it looked OK to begin with, now I cant miss it!

crabapple 01-23-2007 05:52 AM

I actually don't know how good this is supposed to be. I worked on some of these Mission: Impossible-style pull-off mask scenes, and actually that's all I know about it! But it might be some popcorn fun, you know, good for a little thrill and a laugh.

newb 01-23-2007 08:01 AM

Very nice body of work Crab.

cept...Batman & Robin...couldn't you have done something...anything to derail that POS.:D

with the amount of work crabapple has done, it is a crying shame that site is only one page.

Again. crabby, if you are at all interested in some help, just let me know. If not, you can let me know that too :)

davidd60 01-25-2007 03:55 PM

I kind of agree...of course now I am intrigued, so maybe I will go see it.

davidd60 01-26-2007 07:31 AM

that sounds like a good plan

Thomasgeorge 01-27-2007 01:33 AM

awesome good movie i loved it and i dont ususaly like action films

Roderick Usher 01-27-2007 01:16 PM

Hey Crabby

My nine year-old want to be a make-up effects artist. It's all talk at this point, but he's been asking for a prosthetic make-up kit.

Any suggestions? He really needs a mentor:)

crabapple 01-27-2007 01:26 PM

Oh--well--gosh! Everything is going digital at this point. My work gets more digital, as things so along. You could steer him towards Richard Corson's book "Stage Makeup," which is a good way to learn what it's about without getting into messy materials. Seriously, by the time he's old enough to work, all makeup will be digital. If we use actors at all!

davidd60 01-27-2007 03:55 PM

yeah cant wait to see it

davidd60 01-27-2007 03:56 PM

maybe there will be boxes of bullets

crabapple 01-27-2007 04:06 PM

Brisket of Blowfish, Basted in Barnacles.

davidd60 01-27-2007 09:07 PM

sounds really cool

crabapple 01-29-2007 11:55 AM

I am curious to get more opinions as I won't be able to see it until Friday or Saturday. I don't trust critics because they see the movies for free, and get gift packages and various other sexy goodies to make them "happy" when they watch the movie.

crabapple 01-29-2007 12:35 PM

I helped build the Dracula mask that Lukas Haas is wearing in the first part of the movie.

You give you opinion now ...
?

crabapple 01-29-2007 12:42 PM

I thought so too...everything about Lady In White is creative and different...it is so unlike any other movie.

a sickened pup 01-29-2007 03:05 PM

I saw it...loved it.... teh tremor bros steal the show...who couldn't love fascist Mohawk wearing chainsaw wielding hitmen

Dude, Garfield was fun to work on! But maybe just as important, I gotta pay the bills just like you do...! ''t's true

I loved the Movie Freaked. Was that fun to work on?

crabapple 01-29-2007 06:07 PM

Believe it or not, that movie was a little difficult because the schedule was very tight! It was a no-sleep experience! But in a weird way it was sort of fun. Was exhausted when it was finished.

Spec7ral 01-30-2007 11:03 PM

just watched alligator 2 the other day. good times.
