Favorite Dumb Cartoons

I always like watching me a silly old dumb cartoon. Older is better but even some newer ones are good. I went on a big Pokemon binge a few years ago, I had probably fourteen or fifteen different Pokemon tapes and also soundtrack music. Then I got sick of it. I like robot cartoons too, cutey animal cartoons, all that stuff. It doesn't have to be good, just fairly competent and I'll sit down and watch it. What the heck....even if it's crap, I'll still enjoy it.

crabapple 02-07-2007 10:38 AM

Yeah, just come on and tell us all about it...tell us about your favorite crap cartoons!

In the 70's I saw reruns of Hercules (remember that satyr or centaur or whatever he was, who would say "Nih nih nih nih nih nih! Look out, Herc!" etc). There was also Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse, Gigantor, Sinbad the Sailor with his magic belt. All crap. All fun. Roger Ramjet, the Jay Ward cartoons with Rocky and Bullwinkle and all those.

Doc Faustus 02-07-2007 11:08 AM

I liked Voltron.

Gus 02-07-2007 11:39 AM

i find gumby dumb, and i didnt watch it

crabapple 02-07-2007 11:44 AM

You liked it. ;)

Gus 02-07-2007 11:49 AM

it took them like thirty years to make an episode with that stop motion crap

slayer666 02-07-2007 11:53 AM

I loved Beavis & Butthead and currently can't get enough South Park.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 02-07-2007 11:55 AM

I love spongebob. That's not dumb though, it's pure genius. :)

Miss Olivia 02-07-2007 12:01 PM

The Reluctant Dragon and Morris the Midget Moose.

Ash's_evil_hand 02-07-2007 12:51 PM

So so many cartoons, it's not healthy for a man of my age.

Dumb ones - I loved the Tick to bits.
And for those who know them (I'm English):

Jamie and his magic torch
Doctor Snuggles
Chorlton and the Wheelies (OK, claymation rather than cartoon)
Dangermouse - legendary!

I'm gonna throw in a controversial line. I honestly thought He-man marked the death of kids' TV in the 80s. Now I know most of you are (in some cases a lot) younger than me. I think it was a question of timing - I was at that age where I thought I was too grown up for kids' TV, and He-man marked a whole new type of cartoons/animation. People a few years younger than me back here say it was the best thing ever, but I can't see it myself. So what do you think? Was I wrong?

Cartoons I watch regularly now (on TV or DVD):

Simpsons (obviously)
Futurama
Family Guy
American Dad
Ren and Stimpy
South Park
and many many more

Roderick Usher 02-07-2007 12:58 PM

Starblazers!

Miss Olivia 02-07-2007 01:00 PM

LOL I have a starblazers vhs tape...but they never fire the wave cannon in it.
Bastards.

Vodstok 02-07-2007 01:02 PM

Hmmm....

Simpsons
Family Guy
South Park
Invader Zim
American Dad

X¤MurderDoll¤X 02-07-2007 01:16 PM

if we're counting any cartoon, I change mine to Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Ash's_evil_hand 02-07-2007 01:34 PM

I've just started to watch the series 'Gatchaman', which is the Japanese original of 'Battle of the Planets' - It's so much better without 7zark(fookin)7!

newb 02-07-2007 04:57 PM

I was always partial to Droopy.http://www.beotop.com/ananasshow/images/droopy.jpg

best episode .. when spongebob gets stranded on the very bottom of the ocean .. (trying to determine the sex of the creatures coming out of the bathrooom :D)

I love all spongebob. Best one imo is "sailor Mouth" (the one where Spongebob & Patrick discover "sentence enhancers") Or The Krusty Krab Training video (1st one I saw)

As far as dumb cartoons, I don't watch anything I think is dumb. I'll run my cartoon list by & you all be the judges. Fairly Odd Parents, Jimmy Nuetron, My Gym Partner's a monkey, Grim adventures, (ok billy's dumb) Camp Lazzlo, & of course Spongebob. Out of those probably CAmp lazzlo is the dumbest.

Aha, we're getting into some Gerry Anderson stuff! I never saw Joe 90 but I am a big Thunderbirds geek. I think that's the best stuff I ever saw.

monalisa 02-08-2007 12:08 AM

Tom and Jerry rule! Love the Roadrunner too, beep beep! And I was hooked on Jonny Quest when I was a kid.

Of the somewhat more current 'toons, I like Family Guy, American Dad, South Park, Ren and Stimpy and The Simpsons.

Amalthea_unicorn 02-08-2007 12:20 AM

Chip'N'Dale Rescue Rangers rules!

monalisa 02-08-2007 12:23 AM

DraculaInDallas 02-08-2007 06:51 PM

Since this is a horror forum....sort of, how about Milton the Monster....or am I the only one old enough to remember that?

Ash's_evil_hand 02-09-2007 01:23 AM

On the horror subject - how about 'Aagh! Real Monsters!'

Was it only me that thought Monsters, Inc totally ripped this off?

pinkerton 02-09-2007 01:26 AM

Denver the Last Dinosaur was stupid but I loved it as a kid.
