Synopsis

In 1968, director George A. Romero brought us NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. It became the definitive horror film of its time. Eleven years later, he would unleash the most shocking motion picture experience for all times. As modern society is consumed by zombie carnage, four desperate survivors barricade themselves inside a shopping mall to battle the flesh-eating hordes of the undead. This is the ferocious horror classic, featuring landmark gore effects by Tom Savini, that remains one of the most important – and most controversial – horror films in history. When there’s no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the earth: The original DAWN OF THE DEAD is back!

Anchor Bay is proud to present the thrilling Theatrical Version of Romero’s masterpiece, now featuring an all-new High-Definition DiviMax™ transfer remastered in 5.1 DTS & Dolby Digital Surround Sound and featuring a startling new commentary by the director himself. This is DAWN OF THE DEAD like you’ve never seen or heard it before!

I've never seen any version of Dawn of the Dead in stores but I have online and there is a Cannes Festival version that's 139 minutes long I believe, has anyone seen this version and if you have is it better? I will definetly be looking for this DVD when it comes out.

I really enjoyed them, surprisingly I kind of liked Day of the Dead better. It's still the goriest movie I have ever seen and I love the atmosphere of behind trapped underground. It's funny that Romero says that Day of the Dead was his favorite of the triology even though that's definetly not the popular feeling.

~ How was Dawn of the Dead compared to the other two?

Dawn >>>>>>>>>>>>Day and Night

No. This is the same trick they pulled with Army of Darkness. The multi-disc will come out later in the year and is supposed to have many different cuts of the film.

nice

Thanx for saving me a few bucks, Avenger. Anchor Bay is the worst about tricking customers into buying a bunch of DVDs (Army Of Darkness, anyone?). I already have Anchor Bay's original no frill's Dawn DVD and a bootleg of the Argento cut, but that new commentary is going to be soooo cool. I heard the multi-disc version is also going to have Document of the Dead, and I can say it doesn't really say much you don't already know---but still, it'll be a neat extra!

No prob Dr. K. The multi-disc bad boy is supposed to have the Italian cut.

sleepaway 02-05-2004 05:38 AM

I already have two old versions of this! Have the region 1 theatrical version uncut and the region 2 gore cut but added Argento scenes but I'm keeping it as it has the best commentary by Tom Savini on it - it's so good, does anyone else have this version? The Commentary was recorded especially for the British version.
