What the Gatorade, The Halo3(if you say so im not giving you the poo-shooting ak47), or the fact that Gatorade is using a popular, and awesome game to promote their product which clearly has nothing at all to do with video games because its used for athletes, not gamers?

Zero 09-11-2007 04:10 PM

its just the idea that you would need to drink gatorade to play a video game. i drink gatorade on long and strenuous hikes (like 15 miles up and down thousands of feet of elevation) - the very thought that someone would drink an energy drink to play a video game is just . . .frankly . . . stinkystupid!

its actually not an energy drink, but if it was I would see the point with games and the drink, because alot of gamers pull all nighters or longer. And the energy drinks help them keep awake and focused on the game. But yeah, for gatorade its stupid.

Zero 09-11-2007 04:16 PM

thank you - that's my point. . . drink caffeine - cool, but a 'sports replenishment drink makes NO SENSE at all

newb 09-11-2007 04:20 PM

Don't listen to the shit-flinger. He has his reasons to be "anti-video games".

Let it go zero..........you can't expect these experiments to be performed on humans.

Psycom5k 09-11-2007 04:21 PM

Zero 09-11-2007 04:23 PM

but the shocks really hurt

The STE 09-11-2007 04:31 PM

Don't need a sports drink for videogames? My ass. Have you seen the videogames they're making these days? Yeah, Halo and all that shit is still for the lazy types, but DDR, Guitar Hero, the upcoming Rock Band, and anything for the Wii forces you to actually be active in your video game playing.

Zero 09-11-2007 04:43 PM

bah - kids these days. . . in my days we played with boulders wrapped with venomous snakes . . . while wearing nothing but barbed wire wrapped around our crotch

massacre man 09-11-2007 04:45 PM

I hate Halo. I hate Halo 2. I'm not going to try Halo 3, because I'll hate it.

Zelda, Resident Evil, Mario/Donkey Kong, and Sonic are the only games I like.

The STE 09-11-2007 04:45 PM

Still not as intense a gamer as Segata Sanshiro, though.

Zero 09-11-2007 04:46 PM

depends on how tight you wrap the barbed wire

yikes

The STE 09-11-2007 04:48 PM

Nope. Segata Sanshiro > You.

Vodstok 09-11-2007 04:51 PM

I am an AVID gamer, but when they began referring to pro gamers as "atheletes", I drew the line. Granted, the pros are exceptionally talented players, they have godlike hand-eye coordination and reflexes, and are rarely fat losers who live in their parent's basement.

Those people dont tend to move beyond the basement.

But gatorade is for replenishing electrolytes after strenous activity. I definately see what zero is getting at; they are marketting it as if the "stress" of gaming demands the replenishment.

In my experience, gaming for hours on end demands cans of biscuits (pilsbury, of course) and beer. Lots of beer.

Kids today are pussies.

Back in "the day" we would load up on double espresso latte's and a pound of chocolate and settle in for a few hours of PONG.

Pong... woohoo... i could totally stare at a little white dot that goes Bee-boo, bee-boo, for hours. Man, that game may be the first comercialized video game (its infact not the first actual one) but it does not hold a flame to Gears Of War. I mean, if pong had curb-stomping in it, that would be different....

I get off of here and take a shower, so long.

friday13thfan 09-11-2007 05:48 PM

I don't even drink gatorade for sports. I just use it has a everyday beverage. I beleive the point of the commercial is not that gaming gets you exhausted to the point of the need of gatorade but that is the perfered drink of the common gamer. This is all just my theory though.

Freak 09-11-2007 07:13 PM

I haven't seen the Gatorade commercial yet but I have seen the one for Mountain Dew's Game Fuel for Halo.I don't drink Mountain Dew and I would never play Halo.I am a member of a gaming forum and I love getting on there and making fun of the people who live and die for the game.Like the people who are gonna shell out almost 200 dollars for a speacial edition that comes with some lame and most likely cheap made plastic replica of Master Douche's helmet.it's like there begging to be even more geeky than they already are.

And as far as calling pro gamers athletes, that's just stupid. There's nothing athletic about sitting on your couch playing games.Don't get me wrong, i love video games and have been playing them for years and will continue to play til I no longer can but I would not say I'm an athlete in any way.

Despare 09-11-2007 07:15 PM

Gatorade eh? I know Mountain Dew introduced their "Game Fuel" for Halo 3. Anyway, it's just marketing like anything else. This is probably the biggest game release I've seen (with 7-11 even selling the damn game) and of course they'll market the hell out of it. Cereal based on your favorite cartoons, underwear with the best superheros on them, and Mountain Dew with video game characters on it.

Psycom5k 09-14-2007 10:08 AM

lol, i just saw this and had to post it into this thread, well its a link, and it is totally relevant to this thread. check it out, its a webcomic that I've been reading for a few years now.

The STE 09-14-2007 09:15 PM

I drink Gatorade because the more I drink the less there is for people who actually play sports.

"Hey, I need something to replenish my fluids after playing B-ball with the fellas! Where be all the Gatorade at?"
"I drank all of it! And I'm gonna just piss it all out after sitting around doing nothing!"
