I baked Skull Cookies!
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...6/IMG_1339.jpg
This is my take on the classic "black & white" cookie specifically for dia de los muertos...and they're really yummy! It's just a simple sugar cookie recipe split in half with shaved Mexican chocolate in one half. Decided to put M&Ms in the eyes halfway through the batch. I love experimenting in the kitchen. |
Ran short on M&M's there, did ya?
|
They look pretty damn good though.
|
Yes, yes fine and dandy...so where is MINE then?
I expect them for desert tonight...crazy creative hollywierd freaking people:rolleyes: |
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM skulls

Ooh skull cookies, those look good. I was going to bake some pumpkin cookies for Halloween myself, then I remembered I don't really do that kind of thing.....so if you can get on that, and send them to me before Halloween, that would be great, thanks.....hahaha....;)
|
Yeah, right.
I'm off to go apple picking this weekend so I'm going to be baking up a storm all next week - but my kids will eat it all in no time, so...sorry Jenna:p |
Rev, those cookies are GOULISH. :D
|
I'm going to make this sound as "heterosexual" as I can.

english smarties (not those powdery american excuses for fizzers or paler violets) can wipe the floor with M&M's any day. Don't get me wrong, M&M's are nice, but smarties are better. English chocolate is genrally better. Cadbury's and Galaxy > Hersheys.
Try a bar of galaxy chocolate, a bar of cadbury's and a tube of M&M's. Then you will see what I mean. |

You are one seriously patriotic person. |

you americans have some things better. Your nice houses are better than our nice houses, your themes parks are better, you're police force is better. We just have better television shows, sports games, sweets and chocolate. :)

No, you didn't ! I'll give you that Cadbury chocolates are delicious (i love those oh so gross eggs that just make you run for the water) but DO NOT spit on M&M's... which Smarties are just a rip off of anyways ! edit : And when you have Charlotte Church hosting a show, I'd say your television is about on par with American television. :p |

Smarties came first, that is why M&m's went for the selling point, melts in your mouth, not you're hand, it was a dig at smarties... |

I live in New Orleans, so I'm going to have to strongly disagree with better police force. Of course you already know what I have to say about sports. |

"The official M&M's website states the idea for M&M's came from the Spanish Civil War: "Legend has it that, while on a trip to Spain, Forrest Mars Sr. encountered soldiers who were eating pellets of chocolate encased in a hard sugary coating. This prevented it from melting. Inspired by this idea, Mr. Mars went back to his kitchen and invented the recipe for M&M'SŪ Plain Chocolate Candies." The chocolate that the soldiers were eating were coated to prevent chocolate from sticking to their fingers. Forrest Mars was traveling with a member of the Rowntree family, "...and Rowntree went on to make Smarties, a candy similar to M&M's."[2] After the rights were purchased by Forrest Mars Sr. and R. Bruce Murrie in 1929, they had to reintroduce them to the domestic market with a different name because there was already a candy product sold in the U.S. under the name Smarties. To identify their new brand, they combined the first initials of their last names: M & M." And the fact that it says "Legend had it" can also cast some doubt on how true it is. :p |
You know I could edit wickpedia right now and enter an elabarate story about smarties, but I can't be assed...
|
Haha... do it !
|
Maybe I should just edit the m&m's one and say how it is a marketing strategy...

Rowantrees' who make smarties belong to a Swiss company therefore are technically not "english", if they ever where. I am also very patriotic. I am English, born there, lived there, however I now live in Scotland and can understand why the Scots hate the English. I used to think it was because the English had a better national football team, and I do support them over the Scot's side - when England beat Argentina in the World Cup a few years back, the only way I could watch it, was in a bookies in Glasgow, thankfully I was a good runner then, cause when Beckham scored I cheered, much to the annoyance of the Scots people in the bookies at the time, who were ripping up their betting stubs - however why is it that everything is English this, and English that. I suppose now it's the English Army who are over in Iraq, no Scots (who incidently have gained more medals than any English regiment), no Irish or Welsh. No, its called the British Army, because it's made up from ALL British nationalities. The Union Flag is again not the English flag but the flag of the Union, ie England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. I am personally getting just a little bit sick of people who think that when I say British, Britain, GB or the UK I am saying English or England. NO I AM NOT http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n.../emos/rant.gif No wonder Scotland wants Independence. |
here here!
|
I agree with a lot of what you said. I based the police force thing on the fact that they're allowed to use guns :D. I do think Scotland deserves independence and always notice that when Coultard wins, he's british, when he loses he's Scottish.
Also, I always get annoyerd on websites when it says "Country" and the United Kingdom comes up. Just coz we're connected and have the same quen, doesn't mean we're a country. I suppose France was Germany in World War 2 when they surrendered. But there is always one thing we will have on the scottish. They may have the, according to studies, more intelligent sounding voices (Can't hear it myself. I always feel like I'm about to be shot). They may have Mountains where we have hills. They may have those cool dogs with the beards. But we have the sun! |
No cookies for me:mad:
|
Quote:
You have shit all sun, and besides it is the United Kingdom... why do you get annoyed, you don't want to be associated with the Sotts? |
but the united kingdom isn't a country. It's like saying Canada and America are all one country. I like the scots but neither us or the scots would be angry if there was a huge river. They'd get their independence and be recognised as a country, not just part of the united kingdom.

All right...
enough already you two This whole thing started because FC likes English chocolate better...fine enough of the Nationalist bullshit and bickering. And M&Ms are wonderful because I can eat 1 at a time, not because they're great chocolate. Have any of you tried Mexican chocolate? It's the primary flavor in the cookies. It's a sweetened chocolate with cinnamon in it. |
Think I've created a monster:rolleyes:
@ Rod : Sorry for completely ruining your skull cookies thread :( |
Only on HDC can a skull cookie thread turn into a political debate.
ya gotta love it:D |

Are you saying, they are Mexican cookies? |
