The off days in a relationship

I've been in a relationship for 5 years now, and have been living with the bf for almost a year, and I never thought that on some days, I would have to actually convince myself that I do love him, in order to keep myself from smothering him with a pillow while he sleeps.

So I know that relationships are hard fucking work, and not all days are gonna be smooth sailing, but do you sometimes just really hate your significant other ? No, I'm sorry... hate is too strong a word....

No, it isn't. Right now, I really do hate him. :)

there are times we'd be happy to kill each other - no doubt about it.

it happens ... no two people with heartbeats can live to gether for an extended period of time without conflict. it's impossible.

i think the rule is - never go to bed mad (but even thats impossible sometimes)

oh yeah - and if you're the girl - remember...

the guy is ALWAYS right.

its not good holding those feelings inside, smother him and have an affair next to his corpse....dont fight your bodies natrual instinct.

Is that so? Hmmm, maybe that's why that girl asked me...nevermind. I'm not sure if even mentioning that is legal.

Oh, honey. What happened?

Honestly, you can't get along all the time. My boyfriend absolutely frustrates me sometimes, but I don't think that I would say that I've ever hated him (which actually means a lot because I personally suffer from serious rage issues and generally wind up resenting and/or hating people that I'm with after a period of time).

However, we've only been together for a year (best friends for 2). Five years is a long-ass time. At this point it's either work out those differences (make sure to be very open and honest with him and don't rule out couples counseling - if you really want it to work, it could be worth it), and if you don't think you can get passed them, well, is this what you want?

Then again, I honestly have no frame of reference. Pardon me if I sound didactic.

The best words of advice that I've gotten re relationships was from a friend of mine who married her high school sweetheart and has been together for 10 years now (happily and preggo): Pick your battles. For someone who deals with uncontrollable rage (and I did for a while), that honestly helped me center myself when I found myself really getting pissed at my boyfriend.

I think I heart you.

...

You can be my corpse anytime. *readies syringe*

I can't give any advice on the issue casue every relationship I've ever been in I've intentionally ruined.don't ask me why its just that every time something is going good I have to ruin it some how.

Aaah the days of when it had only been 2 years and everything was still sex whenever and wherever we could... back then I would have found his groping me whilst he sleeps cute and not totally annoying cause I'm trying to get some damn sleep. :p

Believe me I can hate with a passion that burns like a hundred suns as well, all that is kept in check with him because I quickly go over the top and can be really impulsive. But there are days when I will look him after he does something so unbelievably dumb and wonder, "So this is the person I'm really in love with?", then the next day be all lovey dovey. They do after all say that the line between love and hate is a very fine one. I've seen it happen in my brother's relationship as well as my mother's, so I was just wondering if this is something that's apparently encoded in my DNA, or if it happens to everyone. Especially to those who have been married for many years.

EDIT : Also, can't exactly say what he did this time (and no urge, he is NOT right :p), or he might just end up wanting to smother me whilst I sleep.

Do you do the typical guy thing ? Act like an ass until she's had enough and dumps you, or do you just cut her off and leave before she has the chance to leave you ?

He strangles her until she passes out and then buries her alive in a shallow grave. Sure she's able to dig her way out and crawl home but the last straw is when he has a group of friends over waiting for her to walk in dripping with sweat and mud so they can point and laugh. "HAHAHAHAHA! GOTCHA!"
