I can't believe you haven't seen....

The Sci-Fi tourny got me thinking.....[yeah...it doesn't happen too often]

What movies are you embarrassed to say you haven't seen.

I have two

"Dances With Wolves"-----no reason...I like westerns....just haven't found the 3 hours to watch it. and I own it.

"Schindler's List"-----This one I think is because of the subject matter.....don't know if you can tell from my post...but I'm not a really serious person. I should see this....just gotta get in the right frame of mind.

Geddy 07-16-2008 03:50 PM

I haven't seen Schindler's List yet either. Also haven't seen 12 Angry Men, or The Bridge On The River Kwai..

Roderick Usher 07-16-2008 04:06 PM

I haven't seen Schindler's List yet either and I tend to drop off of movie franchises after the third installment, so I've missed most high-numbered horror sequals

neverending 07-16-2008 04:12 PM

Might as well make it unanimous- I haven't seen Schindler's List either.

:o

bwind22 07-16-2008 04:15 PM

I must admit that I am SHOCKED that none of you have seen Schindler's List! ?!?!

I finally just crossed Chinatown & Citizen Kane off my list of films I'm embarrassed to have not seen.

I've never seen Tron.

Geddy 07-16-2008 04:24 PM

I haven't seen Tron either.

Psycom5k 07-16-2008 04:35 PM

Wow, I thought everybody has seen Tron... also, I haven't seen Schindler's List either.

urgeok2 07-16-2008 05:11 PM

took me a long time to see schindlers list.
i have to be in the right frame of mind - and it's rare for war or war related themed movies for some reason.

very powerful film ..

falls under the category of one of the best films you'll ever watch ONCE.

Phalanx 07-16-2008 05:22 PM

I haven't seen Pans Labyrinth, or (except for #1 recently) the Mad Max trilogy...people have commented that I should.

Schindlers List? Nope, but in all honesty I don't really intend to.

I with you there.....haven't seen all of the Freddy's or Halloweens....I think I may have missed a Jason as well.

Vodstok 07-16-2008 05:52 PM

to be honest, i dont thin there is a single movie i am ashamed to have not seen. There are plenty i wish i could scrape out of my brain, and dont want to admit having viewed them...

Doc Faustus 07-16-2008 05:55 PM

I'm proud to have not seen the Matrix. Never have, never will.

Why? It's a fantastic film.

And for those who have not seen Schindler's List yet- go ahead and do it.
I was a part of that group until about a month and a half ago, and I'm so glad I finally took the time to do it. It's a truly remarkable film, and you'll never see another like it.

Doc Faustus 07-16-2008 08:00 PM

Something about the whole thing always rubbed me the wrong way. It just felt weird with the whole Buddhism for dumbies thing at the core of it, combined with Hollywood action. Plus Keanu. I try to watch as little of Keanu as I can. I still haven't quite forgiven him for Bram Stoker's Dracula.

newb 07-16-2008 08:02 PM

The first Matrix was excellent.......second kinda sucked and I never watched the third

_____V_____ 07-16-2008 09:01 PM

Schindler's List - One of those movies (heck, maybe the ONLY movie...) which makes you think twice before popping it into your player for a re-watch.

Hmm...looking through my DVDs, I admit I haven't seen Re-Animator or any of it's sequels yet. I have owned em for like forever, but...just didn't seem to give them a proper viewing priority.

And, (Return will be really mad here) also The House By The Cemetery. And Superman...Batman Begins...28 Days Later...

Err...I know, I know.

Phalanx 07-17-2008 03:03 AM

Easy Rider, Raging Bull, Dog Day Afternoon, The shawshank redemption.
None of those either.

Ferox13 07-17-2008 03:42 AM

Never seen GOne with the wind or Its a Wonderful LIfe.

Phalanx 07-17-2008 07:02 AM

The maltese falcon, phantasm.

ferretchucker 07-17-2008 09:06 AM

I've never seen the excorcist. It's somethin I've always wanted to see, but never got round to it.

The_Return 07-17-2008 10:48 AM

Oh Christ...there are TONS.

Mulholland Dr.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom / Last Crusade
Beverly Hills Cop
Any Bond movie
Wayne's World
Apocalypse Now

Those are main the ones I can think of off the top of my head...I'm sure that more will come to me.

Posher778 07-17-2008 10:57 AM

I haven't seen The Godfather or The Shawshank Redemption. And I don't care :)

Err...I know, I know.

I could've sworn I saw you review Batman Begins.

I haven't seen any Superman movies either. I borrowed the Director's cut of the original and the Richard Donner Cut of the second. I plan on watching them after Dark Knight tonight.

ChronoGrl 07-17-2008 12:19 PM

For horror movies (there is some shame, especially since I am a horror fan and belong to a horror forum). Incidentally, I had just reached out to Fortunato for some movie recs and his list made me realize how many ridiculously iconic films I've missed out on:
  • Like Rod said, haven't seen most sequels beyond #2 in the big series (Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street)
  • Bride of Frankenstein
  • Last House on the Left
  • The Hills Have Eyes (the original)
  • I Spit on your Grave
  • Cronenburg's The Fly
  • Videodrome
  • Scanners
  • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
  • Cat People
  • Freaks
  • The Black Cat
  • Spoorloos
  • Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
  • Fright Night
  • Phantasm
  • The Beyond
  • Demons
  • Eyes Without a Face
  • Sleepaway Camp
  • Metropolis (1927)
  • Cape Fear

I'm also embarrassed that I have not watched a single Ingmar Bergman film or a Bond movie in its entirety.

...

Movies that other people think that I should see... But it doesn't really bother me that I haven't (I'll get around to them eventually):
  • Raging Bull
  • Platoon
  • Bridge Over River Kwai
  • The Deer Hunter
  • The Great Escape
  • Any Old Western (The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, etc.)
  • Drugstore Cowboy
  • Gone With The Wind
  • Cool Hand Luke
  • Rebel Without a Cause
  • Goodfellas

I'm sure there are others...

At least do yourself a favor and see Goodfellas- a gangster drama with some very scary elements- and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly- the movie of all movies, according to V's tournament...and alky's opinion!

urgeok2 07-17-2008 07:31 PM

Not one, but winner of two tournaments. THE perfect movie, ever, IMO.

russ4lsu 07-17-2008 08:39 PM

I'm not embrassed to say it, but I haven't seen ET.

Yeah, that one I really want to see actually. It's surprising that I still haven't.

...

And there's really nothing that shameful in not having seen ET, Russ. Meh.
