The "I Voted" Thread

Just to see if the Americans on HDC have excercised their rights! You don't have to say who for (I'm not going to), but you can. Mostly this can just be a roll call.

I voted.

hammerfan 11-04-2008 07:44 AM

I voted before I came into work this morning. Stood in line for an hour, but that's OK. I'm glad to live in a country where I CAN vote! :)

neverending 11-04-2008 07:49 AM

Oregon voting has been exclusively by mail for some time. Voted a long time ago.

Vodstok 11-04-2008 08:08 AM

I wont get to until about 5:30 today. cant wait though. I'm so much more optimistic than I was last time.

And if McCain wins, even though he isnt my guy, I can be consoled by the fact that we have "Dan Quayle 2.0" to make fun of for 4 years. Unless the pres dies, she is little more than a funny figurehead if elected.

Hell, ask most people what Dick Cheney did in the last 8 years and most will probably say "He shot someone, right?"

newb 11-04-2008 08:14 AM

tonight I will

I betcha SNL is hoping for a Mc Cain win....their ratings haven't been this good in over 15 years.

missmacabre 11-04-2008 08:19 AM

I voted. Seriously. My friend has dual citizenship and was undecided so she voted on my behalf.

The_Return 11-04-2008 08:24 AM

...I voted in the Canadian one a little while back (not that it did any good  )

I'll be voting at 5:30, sure to be some nice long lines. I did see a VERY interesting way of campaigning this year that I have never seen before. I was playing a videogame called NHL 08' (a hockey game) and was of course connected to the internet. Along the boards in arenas are often advertisements for local businesses, clothing, etc... Well as I was playing a couple days ago I notice there was a picture of Obama along the boards with "Vote for Obama" slogans, it was a trip. Talk about brilliant strategists, it was almost subliminal in nature and very transgressive in my opinion.

Why is it transgressive? Sounds progressive to me, in a matter of speaking. If they consider videogames a legitimate venu for advertising, then they see them as valid entertainment, and maybe (just maybe) they will back the hell off on games for a while.

Plus, they have been advertising in online games for a while. i remember Counterstrike servers with billboards posted through the maps advertising in the same waay you see banner ads on a website. The fun was, you could shoot them.

The Photographer 11-04-2008 09:20 AM

I voted for McCain (to each there own I dont dissaprove of Obama if he wins I will not be angry I just agree with more of McCains policies.) Please no negative comments need be made at my choice lets bring this nation together.

I don't think he meant transgressive in a BAD way...

pinkfloyd45769 11-04-2008 09:25 AM

I just picked Obama cause my parents did...stupid reason i know! I had no idea who to vote for:)

The Flayed One 11-04-2008 09:51 AM

This election scares the hell out of me. All that's left to do now is keep checking the CBS election results. It's only 11am, and I've got butterflies. It's going to be a long day.

BASTARD! You hate black people dont you!

I will now stop channelling Kanye West and everyone who thinks OJ got shafted. We could be doing a LOT worse either way, so I dont think its a big deal who wins. Both = "Not Bush", so its all good.

GorePhobia 11-04-2008 10:22 AM

I will be voting with my brother and mother at around 5PM and 6PM.

Papillon Noir 11-04-2008 10:40 AM

I'll be voting after work, but if the line is stupid long I may skip it. Hey, I got library books that are due this evening! :p

VampiricClown 11-04-2008 10:43 AM

Nope......Electoral college decides. Not our pathetic attempts at voting.

I checked a lot of different charts and I'd say about 95% said Obama is winning. And the other 5% were carried out by scientists in Missouri and Alabama.

My only worry is that America is playing chess and the Republicans are playing Battleship.

Thank you, you knew what I was getting at. He's broken the boundaries of traditional media, advertised himself brilliantly, and stood on ear what we expect from a candidate as far as campaigning goes.

stubbornforgey 11-04-2008 12:40 PM

nz election is this saturday..

National can go bite my weenie

newb 11-04-2008 01:16 PM

Zero 11-04-2008 01:48 PM

i voted early - before work - decent line but not to much wait - line was long when i walked past polling place this afternoon - should be interesting

fortunato 11-04-2008 01:54 PM

I voted.

I waited about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Not so bad, I guess.

GorePhobia 11-04-2008 03:40 PM

I voted with my brother and mother.

We waited about a minute a piece. There was like no one there. The poll ladies said it was swamped all day and there will be more toward the end of the polling.

The Mothman 11-04-2008 03:46 PM

i voted via absentee ballot about a week and a half ago.
