War Movies
Anybody like war movies?
I have always had a keen interest in the WW2 era stuff. Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, Patton and such were great movies. Hamburger Hill and Full Metal Jacket were great Vietnam era movies also. |
Dont really care for war movies but I love Apocalypse Now

I really like Full Metal Jacket...

I like cynical war movies. Flag-waving, I'm-happy-to-die for my country crap really gets on my nerves. My favorite war movies are Peckinpah's Cross of Iron, Sam Fuller's Steel Helmet, and Platoon.
Many of the Italian Apocalypse Now rip-offs are also crazy, especially Last Hunter (with David Warbeck) and Blue Tornado. |
M*A*S*H*, Tigerland, Black Hawk Down, and Platoon are my favorites
|
Full Metal Jacket was great. The first time that I saw that movie I was really really stoned. I didn't know that it was going to go from insanely funny to intensely rivetting in like no time. So I was totally fucked up when the fat soldier shot the drill sarge. It's funny in retrospect. :D
Saving Privat Ryan was pretty good. Have you ever just sort of thought about the change in enemies that we've all see over the years. For most of us it was the Russians and the the Arabs. For others it was South East Asia and on. Pretty interesting. |

And Koreans also. Though all this has changed now. |

Here is the Official website for it though. http://www.tigerlandmovie.com/ |
it's one of my favorites. It's so good, it and Phone Booth force me to completely forgive Schumacher for both his Batman movies. And I HATED B&R. Definately his and Colin Farell's best work
|
Cool I'll have to rent it this weekend for sure.

And... Three Kings. I'm not sure why, but I liked that movie :p |
Hell yeah. "Full Metal Jacket" is my favorite one. Great cinematography.

What about other people's familial war experiences? |
Gotta say I liked hamburger hill...caught it late night @ about the age of 7...I think it was the first time I saw a hooker AND my first dismembered arm...

I've seen Tigerland. Great script, great acting, and horrible camerawork. Joel Schumacher simply HAS to shoot everything like a rock video. Yet another great script (anyone remember 8mm?) ruined by Shumacher's stupidity. He's the only director as annoying as Tony Scott. |
