HDC Summer Meetup Thread

Summer is coming and with that there will be many Conventions and chances to meet fellow horror fans. I have already seen a few people making plans to meet over the summer, myself included.

So, I decided to make this thread where everyone can discuss any cool things happening, and if those things are close to other HDCers they can post here to get some people together.

I will try my best to update the second post as a small directory to keep things organized.

err, I don't even know what country I will be in over the summer, but if I can make it to an event in Canada I will....

Don't hold me to it though.

No problem if you can't visit. This is just to plan out where people ARE meeting for those who are close and can come out as well.

If there is anything going on where ever you are just let me know so I can post here so more people will be aware and can make it.

GorePhobia 04-01-2009 02:34 PM

Well I will be in Canada for a Hockey Tournament where I am playing with Kevin Smith so I will be there partying it up with all the board members from Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse Boards but if we have some people near there then we should meet up as well!

A night of Horror is a facebook group that put on lots of horror events in Sydney Australia, just a heads up for our members in the area, look them up and befriend them on face book and they will send you endless updates. And when I say lots of events I mean one a week or more...

It's the one thing that makes me wish I lived in Sydney again.

Posher778 04-01-2009 02:45 PM

I'll be in Erlanger/Cincinatti with Rayne and Dustin for the summer/fall, maybe more, depending on sanity and status, so if anyone's around there, i'm up for meeting.

Freak 04-01-2009 03:27 PM

I live in East Central Indiana, so yeah if anybody is coming close let me know.

Doc Faustus 04-01-2009 03:30 PM

Anybody who can be in Chicago on April 18th can meet me and hear me read at Quimby's Bookstore.

The_Return 04-01-2009 03:41 PM

I'll be moving to London, Ontario mid-August, so if there's a chance of meeting up in that general area I'd be all for it. Already mentioned it to MM...if anyone else is around, we should come up with something.

If you have the money by the end of August we should go to fan expo for a day and check out the horror booths and such. I'm still looking for music venues with good bands playing around that time as well.

On that note:

DISEASE-

The Creepshow are playing int Glasgow at Stereo on April 29 at 8PM. Not sure how close that is to you but it may be worth checking out.

Is that in London, or Toronto, or...?

Sounds like a sweet plan to me. I should probably still have some cash at that point, heh.

That is in Toronto. I'm saving up for it cause I've wanted to go for a few years, and I know I have enough money for school at this point to spend a weekend in TO.

Indeed. It is the Rue Morgue horror convention, and there is also anime, table top gaming, video games and science fiction. basically every nerd in southern Ontario in one place. :D

Bah, bummer! I don't think I'll be up there then, unfortunately.

Papillon Noir 04-02-2009 10:42 AM

usually around $50 for the weekend i think.

i always get the special pass though so i've been averaging around $250.

(it usually includes a meet and greet/autographs/priority seating for the Q & A. and a studio photo with the 'guest of honour'

I did that with shatner and nimoy, dariro argento, and wes craven. for the last 3 years

The_Return 04-02-2009 05:01 PM

Well, I can certainly say I'll be far too broke to afford that kind of awesomness - moving to a new city + going to college kind of put a damper on the cash flow, so I've been told - but $50, bus fare and a hotel sounds doable. I shall put something aside.

You're not far from me and I went to the fan expo last year. It's not too much of a hike.

Hope so, depends on if I can find some friends that want to go. The wife won't even consider it and I don't feel like going alone. Here's a tip to those going, don't cross the border with a t-shirt covered in fake blood, it's a quick trip to the little building on the side (especially if the border guard is a prick who asks the wrong questions).
