HDC Awards 2009
 

Good morning folks!

Welcome to THE HDC AWARDS 2009-2010, brought to you by NeverEnding Wonder Radio, and yours truly.

As you all know, this annual event is held every year to honor the best (and worst) of HDC in the past year.

This year we have had a tremendous lull. All over the world, countries were hit by the most severe recession ever and that, coupled with members' busy work/home schedules, took its heavy toll on the traffic of our HDC forums. Nevertheless, we still survive and move on and have reached this stage of our annual blast - the HDC Awards.

As promised here we go with this year's Horries. These are the categories in which you have to send in your choices/nominations for 2009-10 :-

  3) New Member With The Best Potential
  4) Best Topic Starter
  5) Best Horror Movie Recommender
  6) Most Knowledgable In Horror
  7) Best Avatar
  8) Best Signature
  9) Funniest Member
  10) Biggest Post Whore
  11) Biggest Site Whore
  12) Biggest Troublemaker
  13) Weirdest Member
  14) Most Missed Member
  15) Most Absent Member
  16) Most Improved Member
  17) Best thread of HDC in 08-09

In addition to the above, there are 2 special awards which will be awarded unanimously on the actual Awards night (or day).

Also, a VERY SPECIAL Award/Title will be given out on HDC Awards night 3 weeks from now, which is :-

20) HDC President 2009-2010!

It is making a return this year, and it will be the most coveted HDC Horry, second only to the Hall of Fame Horry...



You may send in your entry outlining your choices/nominations for categories 01-17 and the very special category 20 in the next three weeks.

So without further delay, put your thinking caps on, and send off the entries to me - either through PMs or email me at [email protected], mentioning your HDC nickname and having the Subject "My Entry for HDC Awards 2009."

Entries will be accepted starting from this moment, till Midnight of Friday, 25th September, 2009.

The very special Sneak Peek is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th...and the Awards ceremony will be held on the evening of Sunday, September 27th. Please make a note of the dates.

Let the contemplations and decisions commence!

To clarify a point...

For 16) Most Improved Member, the chosen member need not be a new member who joined last year/this year. It could be an older member who was annoying before but has improved on their forum behaviour since.

I urge everyone to think carefully before choosing. Not only for this, but in all categories.

I'm choosing mine now. There are two categories I'm totally stuck on.

Oh, and does everyone remember Darkness and Daggers? Wasn't that a great thread? A great thread in the 08-09 season. Hmmm. Just felt like pointing that out for no reason :p

EDIT - For that matter, so was the fight of the realms.

Yet neither holds a candle to favorite soup when you think about it. A vote for Faustus is a vote for soup!

A point to note (if you dont know it already)...

You cannot vote for yourself in any category. If you do so, your vote in that category stands disqualified.

Is this open for all members?:confused: can I send my choices too?! sorry have no idea how this sort of stuff works!:o:(

Ultra busy with going back to school and everything, but I'll make sure to get mine in ASAP. Always look forward to these :)

Did I not mention that a vote for Faustus is a vote for soup? Also, Faustus is law!

A vote for Faustus is a vote for a liar! He does not like soup! He prefers STEW!

Poor thing, they tend to get soups and stews confused...IN THE VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED!

For best thread - is that just threads started in the year, or anything that's been active?

Threads that have started between October 2008 and September 2009.

Corpse in Orbit was also pretty good.

Oh, and remember The Fight of the Realms was started by The Gate Master.

After the first 24 hours of opening, I have 8 entries with me so far.


Highlights :-

- The Funniest Member category has a new leader, and its NOT Newb!

- You will be very surprised if you knew who is leading the Most Improved Member category.

- The member leading the pack for the Weirdest Member Horry will himself be very, VERY surprised!

- Biggest Troublemaker is locked at a 2-way tie right now, as is New Member With The Best Potential.

- And the most surprising development till now...you can never, EVER guess who is leading in the Most Irrelevant Poster category. If you guess correctly, be ready to fall off your chair into the floor in sheer surprise!

Hopefully I have a better result than last year. I had the most nominations: 6, and yet I won nothing.

Oh yeh, I was very proud to have received the most nominations. But all of them slipped away...

For best thread, is it considered a vote for yourself to nominated a thread you started? For example, If I nominated Horror Franchise GPA, it would be forbidden?

Come on HDC! Where are those entries? I have received only ONE entry today so far!

Paste the categories into a PM or email, put your thinking caps on for a minute, and zap those entries to me asap. Its that simple!

More entries have poured in since I was online last. The total number of entries right now stands at 11.

And the battles in plenty of categories are starting to heat up. There are ties for the lead in no less than EIGHT categories already, and even in the other ones, the leaders are facing some really stiff competition from the second-placed contenders.

I ll again urge everyone in HDC to send me their choices. We still have a lot of time till the deadline so, if you are taking your time thinking over the choices, no problemo.

Wow. it's a very interesting event. looking forward to the final showdown.

- The most fiercest battle is in the Most Improved Member category, with no less than 10 members duking it out for supremacy!

- Followed by Best Horror Movie Recommender (9), Best Avatar (9) and Weirdest Member (9). There are still no clear leads in any of these categories either.

I can safely say that this year will see the most number of HDC members getting nominated.

Keep the entries coming, folks. I can sense this year's Awards getting very close and tense already.
