I think my list would be pretty much the same, except I'd have Takashi Miike instead of Lucio Fulci.

True, however, I would consider someone a horror director when they've made a considerable amount of horror movies or are known mostly for their horror movies. I would more consider Kubrick to me a chameleon director (from how he has been able to make a wide variety of Genre movies).

neverending 11-14-2010 08:07 AM

James Whale
Tod Browning
HG Lewis
Roger Corman

So here's mine - As most of you know, I have a sad dearth of "classic" horror under my belt, so please excuse my philistine cinematic scope.

Takashi Miike
Chan-wook Park
Roman Polanski
Alfred Hitchcock
Guillermo Del Toro
Sam Raimi
David Lynch

I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't seen a single Fritz Lang film. I must really correct that.

Also, I am not a huge fan of Giallo; I believe that it's a matter of taste - Not knocking Argento, Fulci, or anything, but it's just my my thing. And I'm not a fan of HG Lewis - Don't really get why people like him so much but, as I mentioned, please excuse my philistine cinematic scope. :D
