Serious medical question

Ok so the other day I was taking a shower and I felt a small pea size lump under my testicles. It's not actually on them but just a little further down. I'm really scared that it could cancer.Or it could just be a cyst or a calcium deposit. It doesnt hurt at all and it hasn't changed color.

I'm sorry to post something so personal here but I'm really freaked out and I don't have the money to go see a doctor. Is there anything else it could be?

The Villain 09-20-2011 08:42 PM

You could always try going to a free clinic. For something like that i wouldn't risk it. If it doesn't hurt, that seems like a good sign but still you should probably get it looked at any way you can. I hope everything turns out alright for you.

Usually just a calcium or fat deposit, I have a few ranging from pea sized bumps to a larger one on my forearm (that I totally thought was going to be a tumor) and my doctor said don't worry about them unless they hit a nerve and cause pain. It's still worth getting checked out when you can but it's likely nothing.

There are ways to obtain free or low-cost health care...Check these out:

I just had a cancer scare of my own...The biopsy was benign...Turns out I have cysts and endometriosis...I didn't know that tubal ligations could cause that...Apparently my hyper-immune system caused too much scar tissue to form...As it spread, it was tearing...Gross, huh? :p

Anyway, trust me, no matter what it is, it is best to know for sure.

Whew! That is a relief to know, Rayne.

I second what Rayne says, Freak. Better to be safe and go get it checked.

WHOOPS, I'm sorry, Avi...I thought I told you guys!

Gah, my head has been all over the place this past couple of months...It's also Homecoming time for Alex again...I still have to get his hair straightened, design and order the corsage for his girlfriend, stress every day hoping that his hot pink vest and tie arrive on time (lol...His girlfriend's dress is hot pink, he had no choice)...Had to order it because he didn't like anything we could find locally (I think the real problem is the color...I'm sure he won't be fond of the one we ordered, either)...Hope that it FITS if it DOES arrive on time, and pick up one more thing for his suit...All before 2pm Saturday.

Anywho, back to Freak.

Sorry for the derail, Freak.

There's no way any amount of helpful information based on experience should deter you from seeking medical advice/examination.
Embarrassing I know...but this is coming from someone who's had a doctor put fingers up their ass (for a headache, weird...no? :D ) but that said afterwards I felt a lot better when I was simply advised to have slight dietary change.
Even if it's "bad news" so to speak, the earlier the better and in most cases of the ball related - well, chop one off and it's all good.
You can even get a fake ball to put in, or a replacement from a pig. Pig ball.
But in all seriousness - sooner the better one way or another - bite the bullet and go let the doctor feel up your sack, ok?
All the best.

This - get the money and get it checked ASAP.

ManchestrMorgue 09-21-2011 01:30 AM

Is it on your scrotum or inside your scrotum? Is it attached to the testicle? Upper or lower?

TheWickerFan 09-21-2011 02:19 AM

I can only repeat what everyone has already said. You should definitely get it checked out. You will rest much easier once you know for sure. Best of luck.

get it checked out! one of my best friends had the same thing. bad news - it was testicular cancer. good news : after surgery and a little radiation he was fine. still healthy today, almodt ten years now.

@rayne - thank goodness

It's not on my scrotum. It's on the skin about 2 inches lower.

ManchestrMorgue 09-21-2011 05:21 AM

So do you mean on the perineum? (the area behind the scrotum but in front of the anus)?

Freak 09-21-2011 05:40 AM

Yeah that sounds about right.

Zero 09-21-2011 05:51 AM

if it is on the surface could be an infected ingrown hair. regardless, any problem down there deserves attention

cheebacheeba 09-21-2011 06:04 AM

Yeah, a lot of sweat/trapped heat in that area...still worth checking but yeah its likely to be any number of less severe things - Again just hit up a doctor, for peace of mind alone (or valuable better sooner than later advice) it's definitely worth it.

One time, I had a pimple on my ballsack.
Not on a nut or anything just the skin...but by the time I felt it, it was quite solid...reminded me of having a pimple in my earlobe, kinda.
So, I went at it...got it between two thumbnails and squeezed. It stung like a bitch and then popped after a while, more like an explosion really.
I swear, there was a crater left in my ballsack that day.
I wondered if it had went through - a quick test of the theory with the stripped edge of a cotton tip combined with no presence of ball fluid leakage indicated that the breach was only superficial.
This is my tale.

As others have said, it could be a number of things - could be a cyst, a boil, a lipoma, ingrown hair, and others. Not likely that it is something cancerous, but not ruled out either.

You need to get it examined by a doctor though - it is not possible to diagnose over the net and also not a good idea to rely on the opinion of people who you don't know the qualifications of.

Fearonsarms 09-25-2011 11:25 AM

Good luck with getting this sorted-after the scare over my tonsillectomy I completly understand how you feel being nervous towards medical practitioners-luckily that operation I missed wasn't essential but I think this could be. The only thing I can suggest is writing down what you want to say and giving the doctor the note to save you being nervous if you see a doctor.

Freak 09-25-2011 09:56 PM

I think it was nothing to be concerned about. The lump has went away so I think it was just a cyst or a build up of some kind.

Fearonsarms 09-26-2011 01:49 AM

That's great news :)
