Animal Horror Movies

I was wondering if you had to make a horror movie about an animal, which animal would you choose? Now i'm not talking about a giant animal or anything like that, just a regular one. You can give any reason as to why you chose that one and maybe explain what your movie would be about. If you choose something that's been done a lot like a shark or alligator explain how your movie would be different.

For me i would choose an Owl.

First off, check this out:
http://youtu.be/UQeN-fcDvC4

Owl's are fucking creepy as that video shows. Also they are nocturnal which is a big monster ingredient.

This is what my movie would be about. If you've read any of my books you know i like to keep things simple so i wouldn't go the SyFy route and have it been a genetic experiment or anything stupid like that. My movie would simply be about a boy who is terrified of the Owl that seems to be stalking him. No one would believe him until the bloody end. I wouldn't really give any reason as to why the Owl is evil or any kind of motive, it would just be there killing.

Now obviously this could be ruined by a silly title like "Wooo!" or by being too corny, people just not finding an owl scary or by the non explanation of it's killings. Still i think it could be done and be pretty good.

What about the rest of you?

Just looked that movie up and it sounds sick which of course means i'm gonna have to add it to my "Pushing My Limits" list.

El Chupacabra!...jk. Actually I think Bugs/Insects/Creepy Crawlies in general...Cockroaches, Centipedes, Ants, Ticks, Spiders, Worms, etc...hordes of them.

Kind of like in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull where the giant ants start eating everyone, except just sitting in your house and all the sudden they just start flowing in like waves underneath your door jams and stuff. People lying in bed and waking up to their bed, walls, floor, orifices, etc...completely covered and filled with bugs. I don't even think they would have to eat them, just suffocating them by trying to crawl inside of everyone to lay eggs or larva or whatever.

I think that would creep me out and subconsciously make me want to go out and buy some serious bug spray.

Good stuff. Bugs are pretty creepy. Can't really think of any good bug horror movies either. Arachnophobia was good but besides that all i can think of are the giant ones like Them!

I love animal horrors, maybe because I don't like people... And I like seeing animals ruling the world again haha!

Definitely check it out. Especially if you're a David Lynch fan. It's hilarious and dark and often genuinely terrifying. It's on Netflix Instant, too.

Cool. I'll definitely check it out. I don't have Netflix Instant, my internet connection is terrible, but i'll find a way.

I don't know if you're into blind buying, but there's a DVD boxset of the entire series that is absolutely worth every penny:

http://www.amazon.com/Twin-Peaks-Com...6978180&sr=8-1

Only caveat with the show: the quality drops sharply about halfway through the second season (Lynch left due to frustration with the network), leaving about eight pretty terrible episodes. Lynch came back for the last two episodes, though, which are some of the best.

That's a little too much for a blind buy.

Thanks for the warning.

Shit- that would scare the crap out of me.

CaptainSpaulding 05-16-2012 04:36 AM

One is enough, but a swarm?

Pinhead2455 05-23-2012 10:27 AM

Wow that fly would scare the hell out of me if I saw one too...

I noticed some mentioned Cockroaches and couldn't help to think of Creepshow :D ah what a great classic that is, I need to revisit that one soon.

It's hard to choose something that hasn't already been done, I know one has even been done on Ticks but hey those things still scare the hell out of me. It would be tough to make a movie on them though as the cheesy film in the 90s (I believe) already proved.
