Where can I watch the short films I see on IMDb?

How in the world do the short films on IMDB.com get rated? I can't find them anywhere. You would think with the high ratings they would be EASY to find but I can't find them anywhere. Maybe it's just kids on imdb building up the ratings on crappy movies as a joke?

neverending 08-23-2013 11:07 AM

So, are you Steve Balewicz or M.C. Nowell?

trickshot63 08-23-2013 11:58 AM

huh?

Was just asking a question.

neverending 08-23-2013 12:31 PM

Well, you quote the IMDB rating, so obviously you've read the entry on IMDB which clearly states the release date, which is in October of this year. So, the conclusion is that you have a hidden agenda... most likely to spread the word about this film, pre-release.

Dude, I have no idea what your talking about.

I am just looking for somewhere to download or watch movies that are on imdb that I can't find anywhere (most of them shorts). I'm just wondering how they get rated so highly when they are impossible to find.

neverending 08-23-2013 12:46 PM

Right..........

trickshot63 08-23-2013 12:49 PM

I edited my post just for you Mr Neverending

NOW can someone answer my question?

trickshot63 08-23-2013 12:53 PM

Release Date: 20 October 2012

You might better look again Mr Neverending

Ooops... you got me there. I take it all back!

Looks like according to their facebook page it has played at numerous Festivals, but has not had an official release yet.

Since they posted the IMDB link on their FB page and asked people to rate it, my guessis that's where all the positive ratings came from.

trickshot63 08-23-2013 02:36 PM

Ok but what about all those shorts?

Ok but what about all those shorts? Where can I watch some of those? Any Idea? Google doesn't help.

Giganticface 08-23-2013 02:45 PM

Which shorts? I'm not seeing any titles in your post. Or if you're doing a query on IMDB, maybe you could post a URL.

The only shorts I can think of that I've sought out are:
  • Le manoir du diable (aka House of the Devil) (1896), which I found on YouTube.
  • Within the Woods (original Evil Dead short film) (1978), which I found on YouTube.
  • Aftermath (1994), which is available on Amazon.

I can't think of any others off-hand that I've looked for.

trickshot63 08-23-2013 03:04 PM

None in particular

I go to imdb, click on movies, top 250, horror, and then click user ratings and up comes a lot of tv series and video games, but mixed in are a bunch of "short" horror shows. Just wondering where to view them. Stuff like Deatherman, Other (2012), The Dump (2012), Blue Hole, etc. Maybe these were seen at festivals also.

He edited out the film we were discussing, for some reason.

I don't think there's any one place you can go to, to watch shorts. You have to research them on acase by case basis. Some you can find on youtube, some on vimeo. If they're recent, it's going to be harder because an independently produced short has one primary market- film festivals and conventions. They can play this circuit for several years, and they won't be posted on the internet during this time because that would kill their marketability for festival and convention showings.

Some eventually end up on Fearnet. In fact the quality of shorts on Fearnet is usually higher than the feature films they show.

Eventually, once they're played out on the festival circuit, the producers may release a DVD you can purchase via their website, and once that happens some fans may frrip it and upload it to youtube.

You're not going to find most shorts streaming on pirate streaming video websites because the demand just isn't there.

If you post some of the titles you're looking for, some members here might be willing to do your work for you and track down individual titles.

Oh yeah, good point about the shorts on FearNet! Probably not a solution if looking for something specific, but if just looking for good shorts to watch, they have some surprisingly good ones.
