ASH. VS. EVIL. DEAD.
Here's your thread. Looks great...I'm so down to wash away the failure remake... |

I'm now seriously wondering what the appropriate make-shift grave marker is for Jews...I mean, it seems like a Star of David would be a lot harder to fashion than a cross...

Im losing it im so excited. This is my shit and so far it looks like they did it right.
|
Do we know when it starts?

Looking forward to this much more than your typical tv-based horror show. It's made by, and starring, guys who made the original movie series, so it will likely take on a more cinematic approach to its own story, instead of the bland tv serial style.

Holy cow!! This was even better than I expected!
Raimi and Campbell together again... This is a dream come true. Normally I would be careful about overselling something, but in this case, if you're an Evil Dead fan, there's no risk of that. Campbell is just as funny as ever, and the script is clever and fresh, and 100% in line with the originals. The Deadites are Deadites, not like the more standard possessed in the remake. My only gripe is that there are a few CG head explosions, which never would have happened in the original trilogy, even if the technology existed then, but I guess times change. No more claymation splatter, and there's a fight with a cute CG toy doll, which in spirit, feels like it would fit in Army of Darkness, but the effect is typical modern animation. Overall though, this is easily going to be my most anticipated show each week. Good going, Sam and Bruce! |

I loved it too, I think they went overboard on the little CGI they used to make it come across campier. They could have done it more cleanly but it almost seemed like they tried to make it over the top. It was wicked, my only complaint would be the opening scene. Its not really in Character for Ash to pick up sleazy chicks in bars. But I think I kind of understand what they where trying to do. Regardless, it was incredible! |
My expectations were very high for this, why wouldnt they be for Raimi Campbell back together?
Overall this was exactly what I was hoping for! The only thing that upset me and i mean really truly deeply upset me was the incredibly high use of CGI, that shit needs to stop asap. ::devil:: |

First episode was a solid begining to what looks like its going to be a great show.... I'm no fan of CGI over practical effects, but i thought it was faithful to the original and the gore still had a bit of an old school feel to it.

I'm only two episodes in so far and the show is great. I just got into the original Evil Dead during the Halloween month so the continuation is perfect. I said the exact same thing as Ash when the first Deadite showed up. I now really get why people didn't like the remake. It's the Ash character. The remake might be serious and straight. And I didn't like the comedy parts in Evil Dead 2 that much. But Ash from Army of Darkness and now this is one of the best horror heroes in the movies.

So far I only got a few pet peeves.
1. The supporting cast. Ash could easily have taken this journey alone and I think it would've worked better. 2. Some of the dialogue sounds like it's written by a 15 year old kid. 3. A running time of 30 minutes is too short. |
Just binged through the season and I freakin' love it.
It's like we finally go an Evil Dead sequel, only difference it's a series instead of a movie. It was so fun to see Ash again. And his one-liners. Just great. The CGI is only a small annoyance. Like Jake said, if that's what it takes to allow the show to be made, then I'm willing to sacrifice. |
I was a big fan of the Evil Dead movies, but I have yet to watch the series. I only have basic cable, and Netflix. I dumped Hulu awhile back.

As a long time Evil Dead fan (and Army of Darkness) I love this series. It captures the original series perfectly while making it new. It's fucking great

I can't wait for the second season.
