Christian Horror..??

Okay I know there is genres of horror.. But I read this article the other day in a mag called christian beat (yeah what the hell was I thinking, but I read the cover title on front and it read "Christian Horror, it wont save us." ) yeah I was thinking how corny is that. Well anyways one of my friends is very religious and she is always wanting to convert me to her religion anyways, I read the mag she had got in mail .. the article about chrisitian horror... it talked about how the exorcist, hellraiser, the wishmaster, and many other films are considered "christian horror" I have never heard of this... any of you ????? so anyways I did my research and hell there is plenty of sites that considers those movies chrisitian horror... I never knew this, I guess we all learn something everyday

Im christian and I dig christian horror.....It scares the hell out of me because I know the devil is real and is very present in the world today. Im really into the prophecy film and also a big fan of the omen series.....

I guess.....a good horror movie is a good horror movie....Christians want to claim it as their won....so be it......

Exorcist could be considered christian, but Hellraiser or Wishmaster? WTF, mate? I might be wrong, but isn't Hellraiser more geared towards S&M nuts?

As for the so-called christian horror sub-genre, I'll watch the ones I like, and I won't watch the ones I don't like, simple as that.

But I'm Buddhist, what the hell do I know? :D

Would "The Devils Advocate" be considered "Christian Horror?"

Does Mel Gibson's "Jesus Chainsaw Massacre" qualify?

i think that christian horror doesnt mean its directed at christians. i think it has more to do with what the stories come from or what the theme is. like omen and hellraiser which deals in the devil/ demons whate ever. but idont get wishmaster. which is about a genie which is a arab thing and has basis in christianity at all

Yeah, Wishmaster doesn't really seem to fit, but then again neither does Hellraiser. I've never heard the term 'Christian Horror', but I suppose it works. Although I would think more along the lines of The Exorcist and The Omen than Hellraiser o Wishmaster.

Someone asked about Devil's Advocate, I would say yes, that would fall into this category because it deals with religious themes.

I think that would be kind of the defining trait... Good vs. Evil, Satan, demons, etc...
