A 'phile' - or 'phelia' - is the love of (or obsession with) something. It is not exclusive to crimes like necro or paedophilia, although these words themselves have become kind of anti-vogue in recent years through newspaper exploitation.

As an example, a paediatrician was attacked in England because the mob interpreted the title of his job as: "nonce". Cause = the gutter press.
