Horor Trivia Buffs -- I need help!
I have been trying to identify a horror movie I saw in the movie theater during the early to mid-80's . It was most likely around 1982 or 1983.
The movie was about a religious cult (a la Jim Jones). I believe they had a compound of shacks in the desert, but I'm not sure about that part. I remember there was a fire, can't remember if that was how it ends or just part of the movie.
The most prominent detail that I remember well was the striking use of the Isely Brother's song "Time" (...time has come today....young hearts can go their way...) and the slow tick-tock sound effect used throughout the song and sometimes with echo/reverb. It really added immensely to the creepy feeling at the right moments. Kind of like the music in Jaws, every time you hear the tick-tock part of time fading-in you knew something was up!
I have been trying to identify this movie for more than 20 years. I saw it once and loved it, but it was gone from the theaters before I could catch it again. I have asked at many video stores and many people who claim to be big horror fans, no one seems to have seen it but me (and my date that night).
Anyone have any idea? PLEASE!!!!
Thanks!
