Bump in the Night
All right, my first thread - so here goes...
I was hanging out with a few other horror writers the other night and the conversation rolled around to the nature of fear. One friend in particular mentioned that he was a true believer in the supernatural and that he was actually scared of werewolves, vampires, ghosts, etc. That when he's out at night, he gets the willies and is often looking over his shoulder. He saw in my eyes that I found this a bit funny and he assumed I simply didn't believe. I told him that I want to believe, I romanticize the idea of belief in the "other world" but I am not particularly scared of it. At night when I walk around alone, I tend to think of myself as the vampire, the werewolf, the thing that goes bump in the night. That people on the street should fear me. How about you? Are you frightened in the dark or do you do the frightening? |
Ive usually seen myself as the one that kills the thing that goes bump in the night with a hammer.
I have a hero complex :) |

I have some friends who own a house down a private road in the country, and if I leave their house after dark I always get the feeling somethings hiding in the backseat. I don't know why....maybe too many monster movies.:p

i tend to think of myself as a guy walking home in the night . . .
though sometimes i think of myself as a monkey! |
What a coincidence....I think of you as a monkey too.....
When I read your posts, I see a monkey chain smoking, typing furiously and occasionally stopping to fling poo at the screen.... j/k :D |
When I really concentrate and imagine the monkey, it's never close by...it's always kind of running away, running, skipping.....the monkey keeps running away so it can come back like a big surprise and wreak more havoc while people are picking up the pieces from the previous poop-flinging thing. Usually I visualize the monkey as a silhouette. Likes what he does, but he does it sort of mindlessly, compulsively. Don't know if that helps. Hopefully it does.
