Hatchet
 

I recently saw a screener's copy of Hatchet, a new slasher flick by Adam Green. I know this one is going to divide a lot of you, but I thought it was really, really fun.

It's essentially a slasher comedy with a very Jason-like figure in Victor Crowly (played by Kane Hodder no less) but this is no "Scary Movie." It manages to send up the predictability and logic-holes of the slasher genre while still existing firmly within the genre. Really tough balencing act.

The gore is glorious, the characters are silly but believable and the ending is classic! All of you F13, Halloween and NoES fans out there owe it to yourselves to check this one out. The poster says it all.

Not a remake, not a sequal, not based on a Japanese one...HATCHET...a good old fashioned American Slasher

Anchor Bay and the Weinsteins have been bidding over who gets distribution. I know who got it, but can't say.

It will have a theatrical release and an announcement should hit fango.com soon.

Just talked to someone involved in the hatchet deal last night.

He said a theatrical release should come around Jan/Feb.
