this guy is a genius. he made Dog Soldiers, which was AWESOME! He did The Descent, which I heard was just glorious. this guy doesn't even use CGI. how cool is that? i director with his eyes open.

To be honest I've never been a fan of CGI, unless it is ABSOLUTLY needed!

CGI is fantastic, if used properly. Look at Sin City - there's nothing "in camera" it's all CGI.

But CG characters dont work unless they are based on a real actor and applied to motion capture like Kong, Gollum & Davey Jones.

As with everything, it isn't the tool, it's the craftsman.

well sure Sin City was all actors with a green screen, but some CGI is just flat-out over-used. Take HULK or StarWars 1 & 2 for example. Just doesn't fit the shoe.

Marshall has set a high standard with Dog Soldiers, and apparently the Descent. lets hope he keeps it up. :)

Indeed! I'm rather curious to see what his Sci-Fi project Doomsday will be like!
