Cape street

I have completed a short story and after completing the script, will turn it into a short horror film.
Although i have finished film school, i consider this to be my first professional project.
The easiest way to describe it would be to call it a ghost story, although its not that straight forward, but it does require extensive make up effects on a shoe string budget.
i'm going for flayed/dried/dying skin.
Any tips from any of the veterans would be amazing.

I've always used food products, they are cheap, effective, and not toxic or harmful to the actor. It's amazing what you can do with food dye.

Specifically, which fx are you trying to achieve?
