Classic Monsters
 

I have a personal project I am working on that involves "classic" monsters. I am thinking the kinds of things you would find in old Universal movies, maybe some bad 50's sci-fi, even Hammer films.

So far I have the following that I have already written or are working on:

Zombies
Werewolf
Frankenstein
Vampire
Mummy (no good ideas, but I have the monster in my queue)


Any more ideas? I think I may draw the line at 10 (total), but I could use a little help coming up with some more monsters (or concepts, until now, I handt thought of demon possesion....)

If you're including bad 50's Sci-Fi, don't forget Aliens and Giant Mutated Bugs.

The Gill-man creature.
The Fly.
Godzilla maybe.
King Kong.
Dr. Zaius from Planet of the Apes.
The giant octopus from It Came From Beneath The Sea.
Tarantula.
Crab Monsters.
The giant ants from Them!

I will think of more and post them later if I can.

The Mad Scientist who will stop at nothing to see his vision take life was an icon of classic horror/sci fi films.

Also The Thing & Invasion of the Body Snatchers were classic era films.

Demon Possession
AntiChrist
Witch
Creepy Kid
Partially Absorbed Twin - not really classic, but I LOVE the cringe factor involved
Ghost/Banshee
Succubus/Incubus
Giant


And of course, as Neverending said...Mad Scientist

I never understood how that could be scary.....the damn thing moved as slow as molasses.....litterally.

APES. Apes seemed to terrify people back then...not that the ferocious beasts can't send a little chill to the spine nowadays...

I'm thinking King Kong (1933) and its sequels, Gorilla at Large (1954), The Ape Man (1943), The Ape (1940), Killer Ape (1943), Gorilla (1939, 1956), and Konga (1961), among others.

Low-budget optioners seemed to think that the American audience was horrified by monkeys...or, as the case often was, people dressed like them.

I can't believe we all neglected The Invisible Man.
