Old hardware you still have/use

We have had a thread on emulation that was reasonably active for a little while.

But I was wondering how many of you still like to game on original old/vintage hardware.

Could be either older consoles or older computer systems that you still have, and maybe bring out every now and then for a bit of a trip down memory lane.

I still have an Amiga 1000 that I use on a semi-regular basis. There were some great games for the Amiga computer in the late 80's and early 90's. In some cases a different type of game to contemporary PC games.

Playing these games in many ways is easier via emulation, but it doesn't have the same feel as using the original hardware.

I have also recently acquired an Amiga 500.

I still have a Super Nintendo system (in original box).

I think there are 2 Sega Saturn systems stored somewhere also.

Also have my original MS DOS laptop computer (a Toshiba circa 1989). But haven't fired it up in many years.

Unfortunately I do regret getting rid of/selling a number of old systems, including a Commodore 64 (original shape, with disk drive, commodore printer, tape deck and many other accessories), a Vic 20 (which died), and an early Atari 2600 woody console with 6 front toggle switches.

I plan to slowly reacquire these lost systems, and grab some others that I missed out on first time around.

So does anyone else like this old stuff?

A working dreamcast is about as old as I've got right now - Also got some plug-n-play block shaped tetris hand controllers that are pretty cool too.
Emulation covers me for most of my old gaming needs - people just want ridiculous prices for working old stuff/games, so I'm good as is.

Yeah it's true that prices can be high. However there are some bargains around.

I recently got an Amiga 500, 5 joysticks, mouse, power pack, and about 300 disks for $42 plus postage.

However I have also seen them go for several hundred. So you have to be pretty vigilant.

Early Ataris are pretty pricey, as are Game and Watch games.

Recently acquired:

Amiga 2000 with A2058 memory expansion card (populated with 2 megs, so that's 3 megs of memory in total). Came with keyboard, mouse, and a sealed, boxed original copy of Amiga Logo programming language.

Atari 2600 - 6 switch "woody" console (the original design). Still in original (tattered) box. Original joysticks and paddles.

Working Nintendo.....working Dreamcast. Every once in a while I will hook them up.

Nintendo is a pain in the ass....ya gotta keep blowing into the cartridges.

Actually I wouldn't mind getting an original Nintendo. I missed this console the first time around - I think at the time I was more interested in computers and didn't really consider consoles.

Actually, after an Atari VCS, the next console I bought was the Super Nintendo in about 1989 or 90.

But there are so many classics on the Nintendo that I feel like I have missed out!

I love my original Nintendo. Video games were a much bigger challenge before save spots.

Yeah they certainly were.

I was playing The Chaos Engine the other night. 3 lives. If you die, you start again. From the beginning.

So different to current games where "lives" tend to be unlimited, and death means only going back a short way.

Just scored a "Tempest" console. I think it was sold in other markets under the brand "Soundic"

It's a Pong console from the late 70's. Also comes with a light gun, so you can shoot a dot that moves around on the screen.

Simpler times...

Pencils for me. I have the mechanical kind. But I still use the ones that sharpen. I still use Cd player Stereos, though many people just plug a speaker into their ipod/mp3 players. Just sometimes I feel like kickin it old school.
