i need your help!!

hey guys/girls...long time no see (well sorta)

i need your help.....obviously

i've been slowly introducing my friend to horror movies, but i'm stumped at the moment.

i want something that will scare the hell out of her...lol...i'm a bitch.

also.....she underestimates them too much.

Criteria:
- she's one of the kind that don't like the good originals cause she thinks they're boring (i.e. texas chainsaw massacre, halloween, etc.)
- she jumped at A Nightmare on Elm Street when Freddy's tongue came out of the phone
- she's not really into gore
- she has a short attention span

i've exhausted all of my resources...we have one video store in town and it sucks major ass...they have nothing. so i pretty much have to buy anything...or go to a neighboring town or something

i would appreciate your help

If she doesn't like originals you could try having her watch remakes. The bore factor for her probably has a lot to do with the lesser video quality, because I used to be the same way. As remakes go, I think TCM and Halloween are some of the better ones.

If she gets bored during Halloween or TCM, I'd say just show her whatever horror crap is newly released - she has no critical faculties for enjoying good movies.

So she wants big FX with little gore? I need a good idea of what she's seen or what your video store has. The Grudge or The Ring might be good, but I'm sure you've probably exhausted those options.

yeah, trying to get someone into horror but having to try and fit that criteria could be very tricky.

you could maybe try a cross-genre movie to start her off, to peak her interest maybe? perhaps shaun of the dead? (although it gets pretty gory.)

or maybe try something that is heavy on the scares but low on gore, with relatively quick pacing, along the lines of amityville horror or the omen, (i would like to say the originals, but she might like the remakes more), or even the exorcist, maybe?

or maybe neverending is right. she might just not be destined to be a horror fan. if she finds the classics boring, doesn't like gore, and has a short attention span, then it seems like she is lacking in the some of the fundamental qualities we horror fans all share.

anyway, you'll probably have to just tie her up and force her to watch:

You might try Curse of the Demon with Dana Andrews or Burn Witch Burn, based on Fritz Leiber's "Conjure Wife." Their old but haven't been remade yet that I know of. And they're good to boot.

Haha- she got bored during Halloween and you think she'd sit through Curse of the Demon?

Yeah. I almost suggested The Other, but if she can't sit through Halloween I figured she'd be snoozing within the first 10mins:p
