Pet owners of HDC, have a look.

So...my cat Phantom (as seen in pics) has recently had a relapse into a urinary tract disorder. The whole thing only happened over today and yesterday but knowing how bad this can be, is one of the worst feelings ever.

Turns out we got to it in time, and a quick consult with the vet, some fluids and meds got him back on his feet for now. Cost $80.
There was a chance that if things hadn't worked out that way, that $80 could have been $1200 like last time, well that or us having to have made a terrible decision...and for what? money.

Hell, even the $80 cut into our budget a bit too much...

On average, vet/animal insurance that covers a wide range of illnesses and injuries that can strike our animal friends at any time, for around $120 per year - this also covers occasional checkups too.

The RSPCA (like our ASPCA) offers such an insurance...there are many others, but for myself personally I'd much rather support them.
I'm not too sure what's available outside of Australia though, I'm sure there's plenty of info out there.

I urge all pet owners to look into some kind of insurance for your animals; surely they are worth this much, and hey, vet stuff can be FUCKED UP expensive.

Today, our "family" was lucky...but I never want to leave it to chance again.

Hey, Cheebs. I'm glad that you caught your kitty in time. And that's he's OK.

I'm not sure what the US animal insurance is like, but I'll have to check it out, especially since we're planning on getting a second cat (and this breed is susceptible to eye and ear infections and that kind of fun stuff).

I'm sure there's a joke in here though about you Aussie's living in a socialist paradise vs. our stiff-handed US capitalist society... I doubt that there's anything comprable over here.

Thank you.
Well, definately worth a look anyways eh?
I didn't think the pet insurance owuld exist until I stumbles accross it, looking for a cheaper way to actually treat my cat...seems like this is it.

Awwww, Monkey. Come to Boston. I'll be your FRIEND.

Yes, that's it, into Chrono's basement now...

Hey, friend, I'm glad you managed to save your cat, after all...

Though I don't have a pet right now, I had a cat I was REALLY fond of, so I guess I know how it is...

By the way... What breed is that you're intending to get, Chrono?

One of those bald monkey cats that you see in the beginning of Dead Alive/Brain Dead.

Yup, he's doing well now, piss a-flowin'...but yeah man, I dunno....got so stressed out thinking about how unfair it is to have to make a life/death decision on the basis of money...it's terrible...he's still only like 5 y.o, IMO just into "adulthood", thinking I might not know him when he's an old cat just smashed me...good thing luck was on our side.
- and when a vet says stick to a specific diet, listen.

So you've been through the whole cat thing before then? Hard, no?
It's difficult to weigh up having a pet vs losing a pet...but in my like they've been a big thing for me, so...yeah...

Oh, wait... those similarities are becoming more clear. :D

Plaguewind - The beauty above is a Sphynx Cat (totally naked and hairless) and we're getting her a little sister in about a month.

Similarities? What are you talking about? LoL

OK, a friend of mine had one of those... It was cute, but had a difficult temper, hehe.
