I'm hoping someone will know the name of the movie. It was about a female doctor who lost her medical license in the U.S. and went to an island, possibly Haiti, to care for a man who believed he was under a voodoo spell. A young native woman who befriended her turns out to be bad news. I would guess this move was made in the last 5 years and saw it on the SciFi channel. Thanks to anyone who recalls the title.

It sounds like The Gate

At first I was thinking it sounded like I Walked with a Zombie, but that was made in 1943 so I'll have to go with The Gate as well.

Elvis, thanks but that's not it. Early on it showed a burning field and sugar cane workers chopping away with their machetes. There was a fat corrupt police chief in charge of the island. The native woman who turned out to be bad news was turning people in zombies by blowing a kind of powder in their faces. Hopefully these details will jog someone's memory.

MissMacabre, thank you, you got it. The Ritual! I checked A thru Z on the list of voodoo and zombie moves made during the last decade and couldn't find it.

That's cause it was apparently pretty crappy and went straight to video. :p
