Funny you say it hasnt the scope to last the run-time as I thought it was only 80 minutes or so? Its a shame to hear because I liked the look of this one.

Will still check it out though

It's described in the movie only as being, possibly, some sort of mold. A mold and a virus are two very different things, and it is never described as "mutating." Just because something changed shape or size doesn't mean it mutated.
