In search of the perfect twist

Thinking back to all the flicks I have watched till now, it comes down to these final five (according to me) -

• Night of the Living Dead (how unexpected and shocking was this!),
• The Usual Suspects (who saw THAT coming!),
• The Empire Strikes Back (whoa!),
• Psycho (I bet it made audiences jump back then), and
• Se7en (an absolute sucker punch to the mind).

Two Honorable Mentions - The Sixth Sense and The Others.


If you ask me to choose any ONE from the above 5, I MIGHT choose The Usual Suspects (although Night and Seven make one hell of an impact).

I'm sure alot of people might disagree but I didnt see the ending in Saw coming.

Oh yes a real classic twist.


I can safely say not many would have, either. Myself included.


Can't forget Dil. Whoa indeed!

And Memento has a real kickass twist.


That one, and Oldboy, are two films whose twists are equivalent to mind-rape, IMO. Complete and utter jaw-dropping shockers, both of them.


Some pretty solid choices so far. Keep thinking of more, folks. Don't worry, you can discuss the twists itself pretty freely because I put a Spoiler warning right at the beginning of the thread.

Nobody thinks about Fight Club eh? That was the first one that popped into my head, I'll have to think of some others. Oh, wait, Vertigo had a great twist too. I'm tired, I'm sure I'll think of plenty.
