So What Would Be Your Worst TRUE Nightmare...?

What would be your worst horror film premise come true?

Dinosaurs, zombies, giant spiders, vampires?

Maybe it was too many viewings of Tarantula as a kid, but I think giant spiders would ping my Oh Shit Meter. I think I could hide from dinosaurs, shoot zombies and manage the garlic/crucifix thing...but something about having the constantly check the trees, roofs, etc. for giant spiders in wait just sounds like more than I'd want to deal with.

Given how fast a 6 foot (or larger) spider would be capable of moving (not to mention how they actually kill things) is truly the stuff of nightmares.

Buried or any other movie where someone gets buried alive without a doubt.

I'm pretty claustrophobic so nothing scares me more then the thought of being buried.

While that certainly ranks right up there, I meant more in terms of things that currently don't actually exist.

How about you specify that next time and save me the trouble. ;)

I thought I had...

"What would be your worst horror film premise come true?

I can see where somebody might misinterpret the title or the first line, but the "dinosaurs, zombies, giant spiders, vampires" should have got them there. In any case, it was just an "idea thread", not anything terribly important.

It won't be going on your permanent record or anything.

Yeah not all horror movies have supernatural stories. Some are about things that could actually happen. If you're saying that by listing those four things automatically people should understand you mean fictional concepts then that would mean that people might also think you're limiting it to those four choices. I'm not saying that's what will happen, just going with your logic there.

There's nothing wrong with explaining exactly what you mean. I don't understand why people always expect everyone to assume what they're talking about. Just say what you mean and then we won't have this problem and if it's just an idea thread and not anything "terribly important" then why say anything back to me?

I could have been more specific but I assumed everyone knew what I meant. Obviously that assumption is my error. To a lesser extent I'm trying not to come across like I think everyone is a idiot and sound like I'm talking down to people, a few have already accused me of that.

Really doesn't matter, you are the only so far to even respond so it isn't worth making too much of a fuss. Again, sorry for not being more specific. And while not important as far as the topic goes, I answered because you raised a valid point and that deserves an answer.

I read it the same way as Villain - And Poe certainly had a similar fear of being buried alive...

Villain - Have you ever played it out in your heard how you'd come to be buried alive? When I was younger I used to keep myself up at night thinking about how my worst fear would become a reality...

In a nutshell, for me it's the Slasher breaking into my home - I used to keep myself up at night as a child thinking what, in my room, I could use to protect myself (it usually came down to my rather heavy boombox - throwing it at them from the top of the stairs).

Even now, at the age of 29, some nights I have this absolutely terrifying certainty that someone is going to break into my apartment and massacre both myself and my boyfriend.

That 's my horror film nightmare come to life - The Human Monster - Slasher - Breaking in and murdering me.

You can discount it because "murders do exist," but when I think of "What would be your worst horror premise come true," that's what I come up with.

I've had nightmares about being buried alive and even woken up still thinking i was and freaked out. Usually it's never scenarios, i'm just always buried. It's usually really vivid and detailed. I can actually feel it when i dream about it. Nothing has ever scared me more.

Horrifying. Have you seen buried yet? Sounds like it's the film for you. ;)

I used to have reoccurring dreams where I'd be in a room that was slowly filling up with water and I would be pressing my lips to the ceiling to suck my last breaths - Seeing similar scenes in movies definitely get to me - I always hold my breath... The idea of slowly suffocating is terrifying.
