HARAMA (Chhattisgarh): Chhattisgarh state department of archaeology and culture plans to seek help from Nasa and Isro for research on 10,000-year-old rock paintings depicting aliens and UFOs in Charama region in Kanker district in tribal Bastar region.

According to archaeologist JR Bhagat, these paintings have depicted aliens like those shown in Hollywood and Bollywood flicks. Located about 130km from Raipur, the caves come under village Chandeli and Gotitola.

There are several beliefs among locals in these villages. While few worship the paintings, others narrate stories they have heard from ancestors about "rohela people" — the small sized ones — who used to land from sky in a round shaped flying object and take away one or two persons of village who never returned.

Another interesting set of prehistoric paintings and tribal folklore to add to the big picture.

I read the article. Not a lot of info. Although at this point, I think the preponderance of (worldwide) archeological and historical evidence indicates ancient (to current) extraterrestrial contact, it's really difficult to make out what these cave paintings are depicting. (Some of the photo's are not well photographed or processed.)

With this photo, I can't say I would jump to the conclusion it's a flying saucer.

And the yellow and red pic of the group of beings, they don't appear non-human to me. I'd like to see computer rendered copies of the paint pigment only, removing the rock pigment and shadow.

The article references some local beliefs of the "rohela people" in this region, but without any necessary detail or citation to make a proper tie-in. What's the oldest written text of these beliefs or paintings? It would certainly be a monumental task to connect 10k old paintings to current word-of-mouth beliefs. The area would likely have changed hands a great deal. And are the current locals referencing the paintings they found, or are they connected to the people who drew them. Likely the former.

It's Charama, not Harama.

Very close to the city I live (about 180 kilometers) and is in the route of my monthly trips to the state capital of Chhattisgarh, Raipur. Charama is a sleepy little town and is usually my chosen breakfast spot, when I get up early in the mornings to travel for the meetings at Raipur.

The authenticity of the claim is yet to be verified hence I wasn't posting it. Local villagers from around the area claim it might be a hoax. Until ISRO or the Archaeological Survey of India confirm the validity of this claim, it shouldn't be taken seriously.

Fun to think about though, eh?

So have you heard about the story's referenced "rohela people", and if some members of that community talk about some connection to aliens or the cave paintings?

Indeed. It's a really distinct possibility, if the paintings are dated back 10,000 years.

They are native tribals, one of the many tribes that live in the dense central Chhattisgarh jungles. A branch of the rohelas are headhunting cannibals, so no one (not even the police or CRPF) dares to enter their forest area. Their spokesperson is the one who interacts with the media. I am sure a detailed report of the findings will be out soon by the Scientific Society of India, once the investigation is over.

Sure... they'll say the natives had "swamp gas". (US UFO joke)

Definitely interesting to think about. Thanks for posting, Lee. Although I'm skeptical of most stories like this, I still think it's fun to imagine the reality, and am glad when they get some public attention.

However, the fact from this thread that's really giving me shivers: V lives near headhunting cannibals!
