Aeon Flux on MTV was pretty good, not necessarily scary but kind of gory and action packed. It has had a resurgence now that MTV Classic has become a thing.

speaking of... it seems animation is inherently not scary.

Has anyone ever seen scary animation?

There is an animated short series on youtube called "Salad Fingers". I found it genuinely creepy and engaging.

Yes, Grave of the Fireflies. Its tense at times and disturbing, but its not a horror film. You could try the old animated film Watership Down.

Bloof's post reminds me of the Lenore cartoons on YouTube. I didn't even know they existed until like 10 years after reading the comics in high school, but they're just about as good.

Happy Tree Friends is also a fucked up little show if you enjoy that kind of thing. >.>
I believe you can find it on YT and Netflix.

Damn I miss watching Gargoyles (what I thought was then) late at night... I used to think I wasn't allowed to watch it cause it was on after dark so it was surely for an older audience and would just go over my head anyway. ::big grin::

i started watching Grave of the Fireflies late one night no long ago and quickly realized it was serious subject matter, and that i didnt have the attention span or fortitude to watch that night.

not that anything really scares us these days, but there doesnt seem to be any serious animated horror at all, let alone any that's scary.

hahahaha i love salad fingers, and while it is funny as it features self mutilation , murder and canibalism i think it counts as horror..... try llamas in hats, also very funny it features murder and some serious demonic shit later in the series
