john carpenter's commentaries with kurt russell are great, only beaten by bruce campbell on the evil dead films.

I'll watch the film first without commentary one day, so I can think about the film, then go back another day and watch it with the commentary.

Depends.

If I saw the movie in theaters already, and I just bought it on DVD or something, then I'll watch the commentary. If I've never seen the movie, I watch it without the commentary, then I'll watch it again with the commentary.

theres always gotta be a commentary on dvds no matter what cuz you get to understand more stuff and sometimes they are funny and also my brother needs to have them on the dvds he watchs so he can have more info about the movies he writes about on his awsome website!!
