The term was after "midge" which is a small insect...kind of like how a midget is to us. 
It's ok. I'm all for midgets, I would sleep with a midget woman.

Which reminds me of a joke.
I was driving past a prison and saw a midget escaping by climbing over, then down the wall. When he saw that I'd seen him, he gave me a dirty look.
