Agreed, agreed

I have to throw in my agreement as well, movies in general are very quickly losing imagination and catering to the dollar, at the expense of good, really scary stories. This is especially true in the horror genre.

Let me stretch this point a bit...

Here is the "standard" scenario, which I don't find scary at all; At the beginning there are a bunch of teenagers and at the end they're all dead because there's some nutcase in a mask with a knife (or razors, or a hammer, or a sharpened carrot or whatever) running around bumping them off because they don't have the good sense to get the heck out after they find the first bloody corpse.

What's really scary is when you have a character doing pretty much what a "right-minded" person would do, and still the evil pursues and prevails. The schlock they splatter across screens these days isn't worth either the eight or ten bucks or the time you get to make out in the dark!
