Didn't Like Eggs, So He Beat Granny

A Long Island man flipped out over the way his grandmother made an egg sandwich and went after her with an ax, Nassau County cops said yesterday.

Craig Daniels, 20, of Oceanside, first started cracking Ida Blau, 63, over the head with a flashlight in the Tuesday incident, cops said. As the woman tried to flee, he beat her in the back with a portable phone, police said. When she dove for cover in her bedroom, Daniels flung an ax, embedding it in the door, cops said.

The barricaded senior called the cops. Daniels was still hacking at her door when police arrived, cops said.

Blau was treated at South Nassau Communities Hospital for bruises to her head and back and released. Daniels, who has at least one prior assault conviction, faces charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, cops said.
