Exactly! I had played around with computers for a while, nothing big though. I knew macs and windows 98 okay. In 2001, i decided i didnt want to be a wood worker any more (i was a produce worker for 3 years, and then a woodworker for 4), so i listed everything i had done with computers and had my sister give it to the helpdesk manager at the time, and i got hired.
Within 2 weeks, i had one of the long-timers asking me questions (she was an idiot, though). i am 100% self taught, i had learned html, and i now know javascript, vbscript, c#, html, asp.net and sql, all learned on my own.
Oh wait, i took a 4 day course on asp .net last december
I am now building programs that would normally require a team of people with years of experience, and doing a damn fine job, i might add.
And they STILL wont let me stop answering support calls....
