In general I'm not a big fan of remakes. If they stay pretty true to the subject, maybe exploring a character a little more or certain scenes then they are all right. I do however think they should stay true to the theme of the original film, not really mess with the central character, or original big scenes, (what the film is known for), i.e...messing with/straying to far from the meat hook scene in the original TCM.
