Yeah! Buy it!

There is that marvelous special edition of "Night of the Living Dead" from Image Entertainment. The transfer is THX, its audio is enhanced in 5.1 surround, and it has a HUGE truckload of special features, including two commentaries. I can't recommend it more! I bought it once, and showed it to a friend, who loved the transfer so much he was drooling; so I gave it to him; and a few months later I was missing the thing, so I bought the damn thing again.

Regarding the soundtrack, quite often I have watched versions of films where the sound has been "remixed," and have been less than pleased with the results--overenthusiastic sound editors have a tendency to add extra stuff, extra effects and so on. And usually, the soundtrack comes out hardly resembling the original thing you grew up with.

(Case in point: that one reissue of "Halloween" a few years ago with re-recorded music tracks and all kinds of additional sound effects that weren't present in the original version. Sorry, but while technically it was very nicely done, it was far too much of a departure from the original material, and it kinda ruined that version of the movie for me.)

This isn't the case at all with this remastered NOTLD. The stereo effects are subtle, tasteful and effective, and NO new sound effects have been added. It sounds great. It'll make you shiver!
