Horror is like any other genre of movies.It will have it's classic films that come out every now and again which will be imitated by inferior movies but they can still be entertaining.I agree about the lack of originality these days but like any other genre after the thousands of movies that have been made. how many different story lines are there left to explore.The other problem is the obsession with sequels and remakes.As I've said before it is all about money and the studios just don't like taking risks with
original ideas so they stick with the tried and trusted "brand names".
I personally believe there are plenty of horror novels out there by various authors that are totally original and crying out to be adapted into movies but again it comes down to money.
