i do not believe there is a god.
but i know the bible .. and they have an answer for every question raised so far. I dont believe them - i think the bible is a very clever and carefully written instruction manual which takes into consideration almost everything - as to have a counter arguement for everything.
eg. if heaven is better why dont i kill myself now ? because suicide is a sin.
i cant see god ... faith is the cornerstone of belief.
and so on ..
I believe we are here due to a natural accident. Does that mean there is no value in life .. i dont think so but anyone who thinks that obviously has nothing to offer .. so .. adios..
we have developed into a series of communities. We are a mess of a race but every now and then there is a glimmer of hope.
We are in a race right now - to grow into a race of mature people vs destroying the planet. My bet is that we are going to destroy the planet ... but i have a very strong survivor instinct - paired with the desire to do and see and experience as much as i can before i die ..and hopefully pave the way for my kid to do and see and experience even more than i did after i'm gone.
religion exists/existed for a few reasons.
1) to explain the unexplainable
2) to enforce civilized law
3) to educate
4) to control people
5) to give us something to believe in when times get tough - something to believe in so that people will have continuance after death.
if you need these things .. whatever .. i dont.
as ai said somewhere here a few times before .. i believe in enjoying life to the fullest without infringing on anyone elses enjoyment ..(as long as their enjoyment doesnt consist of hurting others)
