Yes, I've followed Gordon for some time now, across various shows...You're right Vod, he can be a cunt, but....he gets shit done, and expects quality.
If a person is calling themselves a chef, they may as well come at least somewhere near the standard of the expectation of that title. He's direct, and if these folks can swallow their pride and not get touchy about it, they'd be better for it. He's a restaurant owner/manager/chef, so clearly he knows what he's doing.
It's a high pressure job, so yeah...if you fuck up, you get whipped into shape in the quickest way possible, he's by FAR not the only chef to be this blunt.
Gotta say, I have a great deal of respect for this guy.
Haha, I always figured you'd like him, Vod...

More recently hes had couple of other programmes, forget the name, where he travels around the Uk visiting resturants and pulls the menus to pieces, not to mention crucifying the managers at every opportunity...

I think that would have been something called "restaurant rescue"? It was good...he'd help out restaurants that were having problems for one reason or another, whip their staff into shape, and analyse their menu, to see how well it would go down among the locals eg - The fine dining menu in a fucking little fishing town...hahaha, that was some funny shit....the little "head chef" (yeah, at what was he, 18?) jerk was just trying to show off, and got slapped for it...
So Gordon would hang around, fix everything up a bit, then revisit a month later?
It was a good show, but I'd have liked it to be a little longer term, but it was still an enjoyable watch.
Aside from his television career, if you can get a hold of any of his books or recipes, he's very good.
