Never read the book so dont have that for a frame of reference. I think this film means alot to me mainly because its the first film I really remember watching. The message didnt mean much at the time, it was just the spectacle that drew me in and at the time (I was about 6 at the time) it was a really scary film. I will always hold this in high affection but the religious aspect of it is too heavy handed for cynical wretch like me.
