Madhouse [2004]

As far as movies go, Ive had one heck of a week. Nothing that was overly terrible, the worst movie I watched was Swamp Thing. Seeing that I go back to school on Monday, this is probably one of the last films Ill get to see for awhile...and what a way to cap off a great film-watching week! As you may or may not know, Im a huge fan of films set in mental hospitals. Session 9, House on Haunted Hill remake, the list goes on. Well, Madhouse started out like a typical asylum flick: A young doctor arrives at the hospital, becomes aquainted with some patients and staff members, gets tricked into thinking a patient is a doctor...you know, the usual stuff. Until about 15-20 minutes in, it sticks to the formula. After it's introduced the characters however, you know you're in for a different kind of film. I cant say much more aout the plot without giving it away, but suffice to say there are some very creepy moments. The actors are surprisingly good, with no real stand-out performances. The entire cast was great. With the exception of a few really corny lines, the script seemed to be written well. The ending is the main drawback of the movie, but I wont spoil it for you by explaining how. Ill just say that the Alternate Ending on the DVD was MUCH better. Overall, this is a great movie. No more needs to be said, just go rent it and you shouldn't be disapointed!

8.5/10

PS- Jordan Ladd is friggin hot!
