The restored version seemed to refer to the book more - more Kinderman, more serial killer, context for the 'you're gonna die up there' line. It also had a nice ending scene between the surviving priest and Kinderman.
E2 sucked except for the great Ennio Morricone soundtrack.
E3 - I liked the hospital hallway scene but I don't know that the film was necessary at all.
I got to see the restored version on 06.06.06 at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin - good fun.
